Thanks, Andy. Cool, I'll check it out tomorrow when I get home. I'm in a campground near Lewiston and all I have is this smarter than me phone. Lefty has been safely handed off to Team Washington.

Thanks to you guys for the nice comments on the bike.  Frank, nope, we weren't in the campground you mentioned.  We were at the Hell's Gate State Park, which despite its name, was unhell-like, except for a bunch of noisy kids.  It sits right by the river south of the bridge.  Let me know if you get headed this way.

Actually Stev-o, it has been for sale for seversl years.  The price is a dollar a mile, so as of today I'd have to get $138,208 out of it.  I've been urging interested buyers to quit procrastinating as it isn't getting any cheaper, but you know how people are.

HA, good one!  And not rebuilt, that is exceptional. Goes to show you that if properly maintained, these motors will run forever.

Well, now it is 36 years. Maybe I'll make bragging about my old 750 an annual event in this thread. The bike is still for sale, with the price now $143,157.  It has another relay under its wheels this year.  It has been taking it easy the past couple of weeks.  It is frickin hot behind the Windjammer, so except for a couple of days I've been commuting on the KLR.  Here it is in eastern Oregon a couple of weeks ago on the pimp-o-saurus tour loaded down with all my #$%*.

I love this. I'd put money on the designers not having any sense of just how far these things could go if properly looked after. They just did the best they could with the technology of the time, and projected per-unit cost estimates. That they totally 'nailed it' would probably make them pretty happy, assuming they're alive. Kudos to you for outstanding care and feeding!

Honda quality. I remember back in the mid 70's Hondas were my bike back than and at the time I had a 1976 CB550 and several years before it I had a 1974 CB360. My best friend was A Kawasaki guy. He was always on my case about how fast these 2 stroke smokers were, but I remember telling him these Hondas will be running years and years down the road when the Kaw won't.

Hey buddy what did I tell you ;)

Love that you're still on that bike so many miles/years later.

I don't know if you know, but Craig Vetter sells parts for the Jammer- you can buy the "snap vents" for reasonable coin, and they make a big difference on the road.

I put 1500 miles on my F2 last weekend, Iowa to Devils Tower and back.  Great road machines.  I've got a windjammer II on mine...

Greg, after just reading this entire post, I want to tell you I enjoyed the great story.  As I am in the middle of bringing a 75 750F back to life after being parked for 14 years, you have renewed my enthusiasm.  Congrats, happy 4th of July and keep that odometer turning.

Great testament to Honda longevity!  Nice to hear someone enjoying a particular machine for so long.

I still own a 1962 CB77 that I bought used in 1966; but, I don't ride it anymore.  It hasn't been as maintenance-free as your CB750 nor has it nearly as many miles on it; however, it never left me stranded.  I like to keep things a long time - I also have a 1965 Healey 3000 that I've owned and maintained myself since 1969.  I drive it every summer, but it doesn't have your mileage on it either.  I suppose in 1969 I should have bought a new CB750 instead of the Healey.  I would have paid about the same or maybe even less. :o

Honda still makes great motorcycles - I have a 2003 GL1800 that I bought new in the fall of 2003.  It currently has almost 70,000 miles, or actually 112,000 Km on it, with (knock-on-wood) no problems or engine repair required.  I haven't even had to adjust the valves yet!  Just the regular oil and filter change every 10,000 Km, which actually is more frequent than what Honda calls for.

So, hats off to you Ofreen!  You definitely have the right attitude...and the bragging rights. ;)  You have my "seal of approval". :)
