You guys have used the term "350 twins". Does that mean I can talk about and ask questions regarding mine? It's one of those that never get any attention or website traffic....An A7 Avenger.

Hey it meets most of the critera  ;D

Gordon

Okay Gordon, start talking and showing that A7. Closest I ever got to a 350, was to pick up on a wrecked one in Japan in the late 60's. I planned to stick the motor in another "rolling frame" that I bought and build a bike to take on an X-6 Hustler. As it happened, I got my orders to ship out to the States, before I could do it and I ended up selling it to another buddy. Don't have a clue what ever happened to it. So, I would like to hear about and see yours. ;) 8)

                                      Later on, Bill :)  ;)
You know, Gordon's A7 does have valves. Rotary valves that is. ;D

BTW, I've also got a 73' RD350 Twin. I know that there is a site that covers them but, I'd rather talk with folks like the ones here or in "other bikes (or what ever)' on the new site, if ya don't mind? (Also, if you'd rather I didn't, I won't. Don't want to derail anything, you know?)  ??? ;D ::)

I would be interested in helping if I can.

Had planned on starting one for the twins......in connection with my website, but know nothing about starting/hosting a forum. So the planjavascript:void(0);
Wink ;)s just kind of fell thru.

Let me know guys if there is anything I can help with.

Later,
Greg

Hey Greg, I'm sure most all here would agree that you would be a definite asset to the site that is being talked about here, that mikedialect and mlinder are working up! ;)

                             Later on, Bill :)  ;)

Me and my WILD ideas... always getting me into trouble. Hopefully some knowledgeable folk stop by, but a test run with the idea can't hurt. The google lists of answers are all unorganized and scattered. Hopefully it becomes a good place for twin knowledge.

Greg, I had counted you as the new 350twin "forum god"  when I posted the last comment.

Dont know about the god status........more like Obsessive-compulsive Disorder!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
....my woman here at the house would agree!!
Greg

Just so you know- to confirm at least demi-god status- I have shown your work on ohiocaferacers to a few dozen people who aren't into bikes and they think your 350's are amazing... and wonder how something like my 350 could be transformed into what you folks are doing over there.

I have two SOHC2 CB175 twins that I'd really like to work on someday (if I only had the time...), they seem to be essentially 1/2 of a SOHC4.  Count me in when it's up & running.

hmmm... alright, I've gotta give my two cents on this.  My profession is in SEO which completely revolves around getting people to come to a specific website and getting the sites higher ranked on Google.  Of course those sites are consumer sites, whereas these are knowledge forums.  However the more people you have coming to forums, the more knowledge that is shared.

I wouldn't have setup a completely other site.  Except for the people who are already on this forum who own twins it'll be difficult to recruit newbies for awhile as your site won't have any value on the engines.  Ie, nobody is going to find it.

What would have been better is to completely hitch onto this site IMO.  I'm a newb to this site, however it was easy to find.

It would have been MUCH better to have branched off the Other Bikes forum in here, the sohc4 site, to have one or more child forums... one being Honda Twins.  Then you could have pointed the hondatwins.com domain directly to the index page of that child forum for now.  That way it would have benefited everyone.  People looking for twins find a twins forum.... which happens to be part of a much larger forum site which could also hold valuable information.  People looking for the fours, newbies and existing alike, are most likely like myself and check out other parts of the site as well since there are always good discussions.

If it grew to the point of needing its own forum then you would have had a dedicated following already.  There would be some issues with breaking away later and pointing the domain to a "free standing" forum... such as bringing old threads and user data over ( with permission of course ), but your userbase would have already been there.

As previously stated though, that's just my two cents.  I see you're using phpbb.  If you're going ahead with it and need any help to customize it then let me know.  I've used it a number of times.

Cheers,

XsTatiC

What is the link? I went back through the thread and couldn't find one. I've got three 350 twins - A 1973 Honda CB350G, a 1968 Kawasaki A7 Avenger, and a 1972 Yamaha R5C.

Great to see another forum pop up - I'll drop in from time to time as well.  If anyone has any immediate questions about the small Honda twins while the new Hondatwins membership builds up, there are a number of owners/wrenchers over at our www.dotheton.com forum as well.

Thanks, although I really can't take credit for much more than buying the domain name and hosting. Mike has been doing most of the work.
I personally use ipowerweb for my sites, easy to use interface, etc., and tech support in Phoenix AZ that is very good.

just go to ipowerweb.com, buy your domain, and hosting. Most domain names are 7 bucks or so. hosting ranges from 8 to 15 bucks a month, depending on the package. They have a pretty good FAQ section too, with 'how to' 'movies'.

Why not use www.sohc2.us?  Either that or see if you can start a honda twin thread on sohc4 instead of using the other bike section?  Just late thoughts.  At any rate, good luck with your site.  Looks good so far, one of these days I'm going to buy one, just need to get rid of something first.

Because they're dohc2's :)

It's up. I'll work a bit to make it a place for people to come and share. If it works, grate, If not, I'm only out a couple hundred bucks over a couple of years.
