450T questions (diff. between years)
« on: July 05, 2007, 06:56:13 AM »
Ok, got a set of pistons for my '79 CM400T from a 1980's CM400T, along with the stator/rotor ignition pick up.  Knew it was too easy;  Honda changed from pop up pistons to flat tops somewhere in that year :( doh!   Anyways, thinking about just dumping a 450 twin in.  My question is:  Are there any particularly good years for the 450T? I know some had a 6 speed trans which would be a big plus.  Are the 450s from the late 70's-early 80's DOHC or SOHC like the 400?  Anybody know anything?   I'm going bone yarding this weekend so any tips would be very helpful!   thanks guys, hope everyone had an awsome 4th!

The CB450DOHC twin and the CM400 SOHC twin are very different motors and i doubt that an easy swop is possible

1982 & 1983 CB450Ts will go right in as will any other CB/CM450 from the years, Normally they are painted black instead of the earlier silver that the 400s used.... The CB450/500Ts from 1967 thru 1977 are completely different and share nothing in common with the CB/CM line from the 80s.........
