Next week I am traveling to Chicago (Elgin actually) for business and need some good recommendations for restaurants in that area. I REALLY want some good Chicago style deep dish pizza. I've heard Nancy's and Pizzeria Uno are good.

You have def. come to the right town for good food (thats 4 sure!)
I am not in the elgin area, so I cant direct ya to "the best" place so to speak.
Best thing to do is ask around the "locals" and see what they say.
The best pizza place in my opinion is either Pizza metro on Division or Peaquads in Morton Grove (suburbs)..

If I knew you were going to be in town, I would have held off on shipping you that grab bar.

If you're interested, look me up when you're in town. My brother-in-law owns probably the best pizza place in the McHenry area (about 45mins from Elgin). Also, my gf, who is from Elgin, raves about Nick's pizzeria and pub. Let me know.

Sweet, thanks for the info guys! I didn't know I was going until Monday. Last minute training class...and poorly planned to. We have techs from all over the country coming to Elgin for a class. They didn't want us to get rental cars because they were planning to shuttle us together to our hotel. Well, the hotel they recommended is full and all of the techs are arriving from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning. How is that going to work?!? According to Mapquest Elgin is about 30 mins from O'Hare. I booked a car anyway.

I know it is where every out of towner goes for pizza but Gino's pizza is my favorite. If you like sausage pizza get there sausage patty pizza. Enough meat and cheese to clog even the healthiest artery. Also, if you find yourself out on the streets after you have a had a few, a trip to Weiner Circle is a must.

I was sad to hear ProTeal's new about selling his CB750. That is the first thing I through about when learning I was going to Elgin. I thought, "Man, I could see his 750 in person!" That is one of the sickest 750s I have ever seen. Just hope the new owner respects and cares for it.

The new owner of the CB750 seems to be a cool kid, who is all about the bike (which is good)..
I am allready starting to miss it, but I have my hands more than full getting the CB450 where I want it to be, plus with the new addion of a 2007 Ducati to the "fleet", I think I will be ok

Isn't NICK'S on Randall Rd? I was thinking of giving it a try sometime....smells really good when riding past the place

Yup, its Nick's on Randall. The place is always packed....Went there on a Saturday night to get food and was like an 1 1/2 wait.

I forget how far it is but if you find yourself over near Joliet, Hero's and Legends is a great place!!! It was highly recommended by the cute desk clerk of the hotel I stayed in one night on my way to Michigan in 2001. She said it was the best place in town. And yes, she joined me for dinner

Gino's east is horribile, but that's just my opinion....too. I'm not a fan of the "deep dish stuff" myself, I prefer the thinner pizza. I like the pizza in my home town, a small little place called Dominick's (not affiliated with the food store by any means). Other nice Italian dishes as well.

It was pretty hot yesterday (Sunday) in Elgin. That is not so odd to me as the no helmet law is. I just can't get over seeing guys riding down the road with only sunglasses on their heads.

Training in Elgin got canceled and I never got my pizza... We did eat at Jimmy's Charhouse, a place called Burnt Toast, and some really cool brew pub in Dundee. I cant remember the name. Their oatmeal stout was yummy.

I was just in Elgin this morning to drop a bid off. Seemed to have a small town mentality.
