Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce my self since i finally had some time to make a profile.  I figured it was about time for me to stop sneaking around as a guest ;)  anyway as you see by my username, i am just a poor college student studying automotive at SIUC.  i need a project to keep me out of trouble (as much as possable) while I'm at school, so i picked up a 78 CB750F in rough... not running condition.  Its missing a few parts but I'm going for a "cafe" style (for lack of a better word) that looks very stock, but has all the non essentials removed. NO farrings or Glass seat pans. Since I'm lacking a favorable bank balance, all parts that can be used will be restored or fabricated to work. Hopefully by the end of this summer i will have a rideable bike i can return to school with.  As i remove parts that i don't want anymore, ill let you guys know.  I'm more than happy to help someone else out with parts if it ends up on a good home.  Seeyou guys around!

Nice, bare bones and on the cheap was the route I took on the first crack, but I've decided to spend a little cash to bring her back this time around.  She'll be able to accelerate quicker, stop faster, turn better and hopefully be some 50-70lbs lighter.  Good luck with your build and post some pics.

Thanks guys, working on the bike so far is going good, its 100% apart right now.  I'm currently checking all my motor clearances.  Looks like the previous owner actually changed the oil!  18,000 miles on it and it looks fresh and tight so far.  I need to purchase a bore gauge small enough to do the cam and valve guides.  Guess the F head guides don't hold up according to what Ive read.

Welcome, PoorBoy, and that's good news on the internals. As far as making it a cafe, someone recently pointed out that it is cheaper to go that route because you aren't restricted to buying original or original-looking parts.  Good luck.

I was scrolling through old email and realized that you bought it off of ebay about a month ago; congrats. I had my eye on that bike, but needed a 77 for parts, so I never did bid on it.
