Weld repair - what a mess!
« on: July 07, 2007, 10:19:38 AM »
Cleaning up the rocker assembly housing today ('79 650Z). I'd noticed a messy repair weld when pulling the engine apart, and could see it wasn't a great job when I removed the bolt from this area. Well I cleaned up the casting earlier, and now I can really see what a mess the chap made of it.

Sorry about the qulaity of the pictures, but No spotface for the bolt head to pull down onto, and not even flat on the gasket side. That ridge running from the bolt hole for about an inch or so is 0.5mm proud of the mating face! Off to the machinists next week to clean it up... Wondered why that side of the engine was a bit oily when I bought the bike...

regards, Phil
