« on: July 08, 2007, 04:49:50 AM »
I thought I saw a post on here about a product that would remove chrome bluing.

Couldn't find it with a search. Anyone have a link?
Thanks

The best cure I know is come to my house and look at my stainless steel parts.  You'll be happy with your blue chrome.

I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I had a bit of gold starting to show on the new kerker so I decided to try
the 3m Chrome and metal polish we picked up from the paint supplier.
It took it off. Then I decided to try it on the real blue (almost black) Ducati pipes.
I wish I could show the difference to y'all with the pictures I took but they
don't do it justice. It took about 3o minutes on the front pipe but
it shines and is clean of the bluing.

It really works. I don't remember what we paid but it was an off the shelf product.

Hey Ernie, what happened to the stainless pipes? This stuff may work on stainless too!

Stainless turns an ugly yellowish brown.  If i had known that at the time, I would have stuck with blue and the possibility of rust.  It's a black bike and blue just seems to go with black better.  (a big reason you don't wear brown shoes w a black or blue suit)
