The end of an era...
« on: July 09, 2007, 06:26:43 AM »
Hey all,

I've sold my CB650.  The old beast was a good old beast, but it wasn't powerful enough for me.  She was an awesome starter bike, though.  I learned more things on that bike than I can count, both in mechanics and rider skill.

Unfortunately this means I will no longer have an SOHC (I moved up to a DOHC Yamaha XS850 triple).  However, the Yammy Triples forum doesn't even compare to the SOHC forums.  This is the best online forum for motorcycles I've ever come across, and you guys have answered many questions that saved my bacon on several occasions.

So, I guess this is goodbye...

Just kidding, you can't get rid of me!  (I'm kinda like a roach)  ;D  I'll still be haunting the forums, and who knows maybe someday I'll buy another SOHC and do a REAL cafe job.   ;D

Here's the new beastie...  She's a runner, too!  (Although the fastest I've gotten her to go is 115...  :o)

Well thats too bad you sold your 650. But as you say, you might get another sohc to do a cafe! I hope you have luck with your triple and remember, we do have an "other bikes" section and you never know, we may STILL be better at answering questions!

Good luck and dont be too much a stranger. ;)

I got up to around 98 on a bike for maybe 3/4 of a mile.  I'm not allowed to have any "ton" patches.
OK by me...
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Meh, this is what the bike looked like when she sold...

I decided the fairing on it looked godawful with those high handlebars...  But I do agree there is a trend evident there  ;D

I loved my old CB650, it just couldn't keep up with my brother in law's BMW R100S.  Now we're more evenly matched (though he eventually catches up and passes me on the top end of 110mph.  I guess there really is no replacement for displacement!).

That is really nice. If I had the cash....Well I think a 650 would fit in well in my garage.
