"Best" shocks for 750 K7 ?
« on: April 07, 2005, 05:02:03 AM »
Hi,

which shocks are in your opinion best suitable for 750 K7 (money vs. performance/comfort)? I'm not a race driver but sometimes want to do some "hard" cornering  ::) , but mostly highway and city cruising. So far my options are original Honda, Hagon and IKON shocks, but is there any other shocks to choose from?

well just to mention them, you can go to www.partsnmore.com or www.crc2onlinecatalog.com and they have dual spring shocks and both are made by emgo I think. I have never used them but I have heard they are ok.

I have just used a pair of KONIS (Holland) 7610-1413s to substitute for a pair of 7610-1296s (IKON Recomends -1296) IKON is an Aussie company making the Konis under licence.
They 'work' so good and two up too.
Only one problem the 1413's are approx1inch too long over the 1296's This makes the over all frame & F/End geometry a little odd.

They are available from IKON is Australia.

Did the orig shocks damper in both directions?  Mine drop like a rock but return real smooth.  Is this normal???????
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

Shocks should dampen both ways. BUT some shocks dampen LESS on the rebound, this is so that the shock returns to its normal position faster. This is very useful on bumpy roads. It keeps the shocks from "loading up" which means they dont rebound fast enough over bumps and so keep compressing.
I think every shock out there is "good". It just depends on your style and weight as to which one is "best".

I haven't tried Works Performance shocks but if Mike Rieck says they're the best, I won't argue. The standard shocks were bad even when our bikes were new, and created a market for after-market shock manufacturers. The koni/Ikon's are the best shocks available here, a little expensive, but like McDonalds, I know what i'm getting before I shell out the dough.

Those cheapies that you see on ebay, Partsnmore, Old bike Barn etc are just rubbish, and don't deserve a place on a thinking mans bike, particularly a classic sohc4. I know someone out there will say "I've got a pair and they're great", but they only say that because they haven't tried Works, or Koni/Ikon, Hagon, Marzocchi, S&W or any of the established shock manufacturers. Cheers, Terry. 8)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Are you sitting down? Ok, look at about 400 bucks US plus shipping. Not cheap, but very good. Works performance is there on your side of the pond, try them for a price: http://www.worksperformance.com/html/vintage.html
Cheers, Terry. 8)
