78 cb550k carb lines

so i noticed there are two lines going into the carb. one is the 1/4 inch for the fuel line, and another that is maybe 1/8 inch. what is that? a vacume line? ???

The smaller one is a bowl vent. It just goes to the open air.

should i run a line from it some where? to avoid dirt.

The line usually just goes from the carbs up to the frame, where it is then looped back down near the swingarm.
