anyone know where to get a new gasket and the thumb latch for a 71 750 tank. the dealer in my area are not at all helpful with any ordering of parts.  thanks

Check out www.bikebandit.com. They have a pretty good selection of hard-to-find parts. I too am in need of the latch for my '72 CB750K2, but neither bikebandit.com nor my local Honda shop have it for less than $35. The gasket should run about $5.

Good luck on finding the latch. I think its an obsolete item, replaced under a recall with the keyed latch. Maybe here, in Holland, it says superseded, but maybe available as pictured: 17517-300-340 http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k1-four-usa_model14354/partslist/F11.html

I found out the hard way this past winter that the 71k1 uses this gasket on the cap:
17525-300-000. Bought a new cap, it came with a thicker gasket, and the cap wouldn't close/latch until I refitted it with the thinner gasket.

The latch s defiately obsoleted ad the only pat available is the locking type  which any key fits and is a 400 four part

They are available at www.servicehonda.com. That's where I got mine for my K1.
