Indicated 173mph on a customers Hayabusa. I have no idea of the RPM.
Did you tell your customer about it? ![Roll Eyes ::)](http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)
I always wonder where folks ride bikes to this claimed speed. Certainly, public roads in the US don't provide good environments, and even some dolt whacks a throttle wide open on a public road and attains these speeds, would we really empathize with their passing as a result of absolutely stupid and reckless riding? I would not.
Well considering that most of us don't own private roads or have access to racetracks, I think the obvious answer is that yes, we do our "speed tests" on public roads. I do my "testing" on a particular road that while public (i.e., I don't own it, and I can't close it off to the public) is rarely used, apart from one or two farmers to access their properties, the odd stray bull, and a few Kangaroos.
It's only a short road, (hence my early claims of 120 MPH @ 12000 RPM in third gear on my worked CB750, the road wasn't long enough to change into fourth before I had to slow down for the "T" intersection at the end of the road) so I do a lap of the road at legal speeds first before I "give it the berries" to make sure I'm not going to cause any harm.
I've used this road to test all of my bikes in recent years, without incident. It's not too hard to find a "Public Road" where the risks of hurting myself or anyone else can be minimised to the point where it's not a major issue, although of course, the faster you go, the greater the risk, but that's a gamble I'm prepared to occasionally take.
If people need to make a decision whether or not to express sympathy for someone, based purely on the circumstances of the deceased's demise, then they need to take a good hard look at themselves, empathy is an emotion, not a decision. Cheers, Terry.
