2007 Monster S2R1000 Pics/Progress/Etc..
« on: July 12, 2007, 10:12:14 PM »
 ;D The new ride - 2007 Ducati Monster S2R 1000  ;D

The pics above pics were taken this afternoon. I got the bike yesterday (7/11/07) around 5pm with 4 miles on the clock. When I pulled in the garage at 12:30pm I had 120 miles on the bike  ;D

The pics below were taken later this evening, And in typical Joe fashion not even 48 hours after I bought it I was tearing into it. I got rid of both chain guards to show off the wicked single sided swingarm, remade the license plate bracket (compare stock to the proteal version), took off all the crappy stickers all over the bike, painted the heat shields black, etc..

I have a open clutch cover and carbon fiber exhaust (wide open) waiting for me at the dealer. I have to put the mandatory 600 miles on the the bike before I can put them on (thus me riding the piss outta this thing). Gonna take it on the midnight ride this weekend, which is a solid 100 miles or so.
Main things I wanns do is ditch the rear "party tray" fender, move/relocate the front turn signals to something smaller and not so cheesy looking, ditch those huge mirrors, ditch the stock fairing, put some clip-on's on the thing, lower the front and rear of the bike as much as I can without buying anything, etc, etc...

I am all about this bike, the noise it makes , the power I won't ever use, etc.. ;D
If you guys haven't rode one, I HIGHLY recommend it...

NICE!  One day I'll ride a modern bike.  I've still not ridden anything newer than 1977  ;D

Looking really good there, Joe!  Just remember to "stay in sight" during the Midnight Ride this Saturday OK?  Us old timers on the old Hondas need to be looked after.  :D  I keep saying one of these days.......  :-\

Awesome ride!  ...and already modding.  I like!  ;)

Anyway to remove the entire rear mudflap and attach your tag directly to the rear cowl?  That would make it even slicker!

Very sweet bike, PT! Congratulations! Have fun with her, but please be careful.

Let's see, according to my atlas, Chicago to Louisville is 299 miles. I'm just north of Lou. so add in some miles for me to take it for a spin, then your ride home and there's your 600!  8) ;) ;D ;D ;D

Ah, all that new stuff is overrated.  I like my Sprint, but getting back on my K8 yesterday was like coming home.  Young girls may turn your head, but the love of your good steady woman will always be right and best.   ;)

(Having said that, I think I'm riding my modern bike for commute again today...)

Nice ride PT, can't wait to see what you do to it.
With all the aftermarket there is for monsters, and your eye for detail, I'm sure it'll stand out.
Peace.

What's the date today ?
Oh ya, it's Friday the 13th !
And why did I take my new Ducati to work today for the first time - I do not know.
I go walk out to the bike to go grab some food and I am greeted by a flat rear tire !
I roll the bike forward to see this midlevel knife/dagger looking thing stuck in my tire.
I should of kept it to show you guys, cause this thing was sharp enough to do surgery with.
I work in a industrial area that is right next to a rail yard, so their are 18 wheelers throwing crap around all over the place, so I am sure I picked it up their...

So, I had to get it towed to the dealer ($150 cash), then buy a new tire and have it installed.
I ended up buying the dealers wheel & tire warranty which covers 4 tire replacements and 2 wheel replacements (inc. labor). If I pop another tire it will def. be worth the cash.  Supposedly I am getting my bike back sometime tomorrow afternoon...

Didn't I say this bike was gonna be the end of me $$$ wise ?

Nice bike Proty, well done! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I just got home from getting the bike back from the dealer with a fresh new rear tire.
I realized on the ride home just how much I love that Monster, and cant wait to do some more crap to it.. Ordered a LED tail light that also acts as the turn signals so I can get rid of that nasty ass "party tray" rear fender. And I am gonna throw on my old CRG mirror off the CB750 on this bike as well.

BEEYOOOTIFUL new bike!

One of the NCOs in my unit is BIG into Ducatis.  Has a Monster 800 I think, and after we got back from A-stan, he went out and bought himself a 1098S.

The Ducks are nice bikes and they make a wonderful Twin Burble, I just can't pull a new bike now.

However, seeing someone here with a new bike is making me REALLY think about that Triumph...
