Topic: Name the bike in this 1951 Austrian Picture!

[Meet The Twins]

My friend is trying to determine the make and model of this bike which was once owned by his late father. Any leads would be great!

All we know is that it was taken in 1951 Austria and that it may be a Russian made IZH.

Picture? Did you try attaching it to the post? We are having some problems at the moment. If you can host it on Photobucket, or some such host and point to it using [ img ]...URL...[ /img ] minus the extra spaces, it should display.

I Googled also and found the same site. The difference might be a model/year thing. The frame design sure seems similar.

That is a Zundapp KS750. Made in Germany, many were built for the German army.

Classic Motorcyclist (the US mag) has a writeup on it this month.  Plus the CB450.  10 gears & 65mph tops.  Built like a tank!

      Hey Sam, I'm not Paul but, I was thinking that BMW built some with that same style too! When I found this, there was all kinds of speculation as to what it was, so I just sat back and listened.

Several pressed steel frames.  Here's an R12.  That kind of frame was used by a lot of manufacturers- including Honda.

so Sammer- there's your reverse levers, too.  Is that similar to what your friend rode?  Could be he had a Bitsa, too.  Back then old bikes weren't old- just used.

It's a long time ago Paul, I remember it having the reversed leavers and it being a twin, I don't recall it having a pressed frame though.
The first Honda with that style of frame was the model D, the first Honda Dream.
