Avon Road Rider AM26 - Thumbs up!
« on: July 16, 2007, 10:54:44 AM »
Now that these tires are broken a bit, I thought I post my satisfaction with these tires. They are super grippy, quiet, and very smooth to ride on(wheels were balanced too). I paid $95 for the front and $110 for the rear. The price included installation. Kudos to Honda of Avon in Avon Lake OH. I had to pay extra for the tubes and belt(I guess that takes me down a speed rating). Sizes are 100/90/19 on the front, and 110/90/18 on the rear. My parts guy says that he uses them on the local road course on his 500cc Interceptor. Great Tires!

Here are some pics:

Oh, and for the record, ProTeal had these tires first!  ;) ;D

Nice!  I've used the Avon Roadrunners for years now, but never tried the Roadriders.  Do you know if they're a different composition or just different tread pattern?

We used to have a "Tire Gallery" thread on here that this post would be perfect for, but I'm not sure what happened to it. :-\

Another thumbs up ;D  I'm trying the RoadRunner's out on my 836 bike. 90/90 on front, 4.00 on rear. Lots of grip, less money than the competition.

EDIT: Ooops, I meant "RoadRiders"

I'm not sure about the composition, anyone else know?

I put Avon Roadriders on my CB350 a few months ago.  I too have been very happy with the tires.   I got both front and rear (90/90v18 and 100/90v18) from Tires Unlimited for $142, including shipping.  I love to toss that little bike around on good rubber.

Thanks, it's a fun bike to throw around. It somehow seems to get some attention at the bike nights that I've been to amidst a sea of rockets and harleys.

Just out of curiosity (since I don't know if they should be this way or not) but why is the tread reversed front to rear?

I mean the tread is a bunch of / \ shapes.  On the front end the open part of the
/ \ hits the road first and on the back the point does \ /

If it doesn't matter for use then shouldn't they be the same way just for aesthetics?

The tires have indication on which way the tires should rotate if using on the front or rear. They are universal, meaning that the tires can be used on the front or back depending on the application. Good eye.

I have those Avons on my VF500F and like them better than any I have had on any bike.

Anyone know what kind of results to expect from these tires when
riding two up for a few miles? Will they wear faster/slower or roughly
at the same rate as other tires? I ride with my fiancee' about half the
time, solo the other half, about 5000 miles a season. After reading this post, had two RoadRiders installed on my 750 yesterday, and am so far impressed with them. Handles better than the Dunlops I had before, and they ride smooooth...If they don't wear out too quick I believe I've finally found a brand I really like. Thanks for the input
folks! :)
