New bars, new look
« on: July 10, 2005, 06:31:07 PM »
I put some clubmans on my bike last week and just took some pictures. Soon I'm going to make a cafe style seat from foam and fiberglass resin and paint the tank and cb500(if I remember right)front fender. The bars aren't uncomfortable, just the very stiff throttle return spring. It kills my right hand. I think I'm going to put on a push cable(my bike has the provisions for one)and a lighter spring. Doesn't everyone have an old set of clubman's in their garage?

I'd bet Carpy's got a WHOLE BUNCH!

I like the fit.  I finially finished this last weekend as well.  I've thought about putting different bars on as well.  I would like a 3.5 inch rise though.  I also, would prefer a 32 to 34 inch width.  Dirt tract or cafe  style from flanders was going to be a choice.  I hadn't thought of clubman.

I always though clubman was some guy chasing you down that had a club! ok well maybe not. I see how a person could like clubmans with the laydown style a person adopts. I dont like the look of them but with the way our bikes our designed, there is not much choice. Just so long as you can steer good.

I got them for $17 new from azmusa.com(I think that's the site). That's the cheapest I found them. I do like the handling. The clubmans seem to help over stock. At least I feel more comfortable hauling into a corner. The painter at my work said he used to make tanks and all kinds of stuff using the foam and resin technique and I'm thinking about attempting a tank. A large block of high density foam is only $10. Anyway, if anything changes I'll post pics. Jimmy
