Hello from Yorktown.
« on: July 19, 2007, 06:38:52 PM »
Just thought I'd drop in and say hi.  I'm picking up my "new" CB750K7 Saturday afternoon.  It's in rough shape, but I'm hoping with a little time, effort, money, elbow grease, money, more time, swearing, and the very little motorcycle knowledge I have (they have 2 wheels, right?), it should turn out to be a usable machine.   ;)

Anyway, obligitory photo of the beast.

Welcome. It doesn't appear too bad. Folks have started out with worse. Good luck and keep us updated.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I was actually surprised at how good of condition it was in.  For $600 asking price, I was expecting the worse.  It doesn't run, and needs alot of things replaced, but I'll work on it and hopefully get it running soon.

I currently have a 2005 SV650S with 35,000 on the clock.  It's nice, and I'll probably never get rid of it.  I've done alot with her.  But I couldn't pass up this deal when I heard of it.

I've never done anything like this before (let the flaming begin), so it's a learning experience.  But the way I look at it, I don't have anything to lose.  I'm looking to go Cafe Racer with it, but that's a long ways away.  Seems like there's plenty of resources on the webbernet (like this site) to help me out and get parts and such.

Took me 2 days just to figure out that it's a K7.   :P

First major things will be brakes, rotors, sprockets, chain, filters, fluids.  I've found most of it, but having a tough time with stuff like the sprockets and chain.  I'll find it though, I'm sure... just need to dig more.

 ;D

Welcome from the northern tip of Virginia.  I will be in Williamsburg the week of Labor day, maybe we could have a beer.

I'll actually be out in Southern California that week.  Just as well as I no longer drink.  There's always Kool-Aid.   ;D

Welcome from another K7 owner. She's got promise written all over her.

As for flame wars, there hasn't been much flaming here in quite some time, but I believe you could dig some up if you look deep in the archives. ;-)

Welcome!  I'm from the burg originally and went back for college, my entire family is in the area so I make it down that way fairly often.  Great area if you can stand the tourists.

Looks like you got a good starting point there.  Make sure to take lots of pictures along the way.  A good storybook of pics goes a long way to convincing your friends / family that you're not crazy, it really does take this long ;D

Greetings for Yorktown NY. Nice looking bike, a lot better than what I started with. A bit of TLC and she should be a runner.

I hope so.  I'm in Four Seasons Apartments, BTW, off Hampton Highway.

Lots and lots of good stuff there.

Will do.  Thanks!  I have a folder already full of stuff on my computer at home with ideas, photos, PDF's, schematics, parts lists, website links, etc.   One of my hobbies is photography, so taking photos of stuff I do along the way won't be an issue.   ;)
