Need help moving a one wheeled Rita.
« on: June 17, 2007, 03:09:52 AM »
I can pay anyone in the greater Bay Area $40 or $50 to help me move Rita from Oakland to Bethel Island, near Oakley, in Contra Costa County. Rita is without a front end right now so moving her is a bit more of a task than normally. A liftgate or low trailer would probably be best, but ideas would help.

Talk to you soon,

Jeff

If you were not out in Ca, I would not hesitate to give you a hand.  Unfortunately I have no vacation time and even if I did, I have no money from paying for a wedding! I dont even have a spare wheel to roll your way! Maybe you could see if the Mods would sticky this for a week or something and maybe more would see it. Put your location on too might help with a few bites.

Eldar, I did. I said where Rita is, Oakland, and where it is going, Bethel Island. As far as the front wheel, she has no front end at all, I sold the front end because my pipes were always scraping and I was getting a longer set of forks. I finally found a set but they are still many weeks away at best.

Another great idea from you is the sticky, I'll ask Glenn if he could for a week or so.

Thanks Bro,

Jeff

Whoops dumbass moment there! Now I see your location! ;D

Glenn is usually quite busy from what I gather, maybe check and see if Bob can do the sticky.

Put a notice in Craigs List.
If you have a couple of weeks, maybe City Bike would but something in the next News, Clues, and Rumors- couldn't hurt to ask...

And once again Ernie comes up with a brilliant idea! Craigslist is a great idea, though I have to admit I have no idea what news, clues, and rumors is.

Jeff,

I'm not familiar with the area in question. Just how far is the haul distance between the two locations?

Bob, It is only 25 or 30 or so miles from Oakland to Bethel Island. The biggest prob I have is finding someone who can spend the time. it is a short distance but it usually takes the better part of an hour to transit the distance due to traffic and such.

I have one PM waiting and we'll see what that brings. I'll keep you informed.

"News, Clues, and Rumors" is the first couple of pages in CityBike.  Don't you read Citybike? It's free and it's in paper racks all over the city.  I'm sure most dealers around the Bay Area have it in front, too.  I'm sure that dealer in San Pablo in Berkely has it, and that little Honda dealershiop in Oakland (if they're still there).  There was always a rack in front of Farley's on Potrero Hill, Alice's, what's that bar in the Mission that advertises cold women and warm beer?  Places like that.  I still subscribe because the writing is VERY good.

I haven't done much exploring in this area so there has to be a bike shop somewhere arpound here, but to get to Oakland will take an hour or so. I wish I lived closer to the bay but I just can't afford it right now. I really am stuck out in the boonies. I only make forays into town for stuff like Dr.s appointments and Rita.

Call CityBike and ask where the closest box is.  If it's too far away or you'd have to fight off bands of wild animal hybrids heretofore unkown to science, get me your address and I'll send an old copy.  I just think it's nuts to live around there and not know about one of the best rags AND it's FREE (unless you subscribe).

Ernie, Sounds like you really got around when you lived here :)  Berkeley Honda/Yamaha on Gilman(below San Pablo) is still going strong. Pineapple Honda(that little dealership in Oakland) is no longer there, boohoo, I miss their parts department. Zeitgeist, the bar that offers cold women and warm beer is still serving up the same ;)

Dusthawk, I served an eviction notice to the spiders. They are not happy and have hired a lawyer, claiming "squatters rights" or some such nonsense. I will be busting out the water cannon this weekend and have those freeloaders gone whether they like it or not.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Yeah- Pineapple! I spent some money there.  Got a NOS 400 tank for nothing.  So cheap, I felt I should get more.
If you ever get to Potrero Hill, Farleys has the best mocha, and there's always a bike show on weekends (especially AMs before folks leave to ride).  Roger, the owner, only hires women with tons of tattoos.  After a while, it got be my "office".  I hope it's still there.  (I had my hood ornament collection in the window for a while) When I moved to Albany, riding the Bridge into town on my 400 was just such a nice ride.  What a view!

Well it looks like you've got an address again Jeff, so well done! It's a pity I live so far away, I could drive my "ute" over to Seans and pick Rita up for you. Oh well, I'm sure someone there will be happy to "give you a hand". Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
