I chickened out

Well I just re-torqued the head on my 74 CB550 after 1200 miles, man they were loose :o.  So buttoned her back up and took her for a spin.  Pulling up a 9% grade I had her up to 85 and still climbing.  On the return run to the house, nice flat mile, I hit 95 and still climbing I chickened out and slowed back down to a stately 75 :D.  Starting to feel good to get her working right.  This is also with a big fairing and hardbags, without the fairing I would be sucked off the tank ;).  Anyway, just had to tell someone, SWMBO wouldn't approve of me going that fast ;).

No you used good sense. You hit 95 so you proved it will do 95. I tonned up my 750, so I know she will do that. I now will run a nice 75 knowing I have something in reserve. Check the near death thread and you will see you have more brains than balls - which is a very good thing.

I would still like to "Ton" the girl, I know she will do it but she is a little loose in the rear.  I need to replace the sprockets and chain, as well as put some better shocks on the back.  She has a tendency to hop when I hit any type of bump. 
I gained the brains over balls after I left the road at 55mph and woke up next to a telephone pole.

                     I wouldn't call it "Chickening Out", I'd call it "Using Good Sense. ;)  Sure, you want to hit the TON and some day, when the time is right, you will! :) And I don't think that we need to ask you to let us know when it happens. ::) I've got a feeling that we'll get the word. ;D Take care and enjoy that bike.

You and your colleagues are busy enough as it is.  That and I already see my Dr every 6 to 8 weeks to fill out WHSCC paperwork.  Thats enough time spent at a Hospital, (I don't like hospitals, or needles).

Was feeling my 'oats' the other day and passed a car that was going 45'ish in a 55 two lane road.  Straight as a string and NO other traffic.  I hit 85 mph with little to no trouble and thought "WTF," I'll run it up to a ton.  I was there for alll of two beats and then back down to a speed that doesn't pucker my sphincter  :o.  Had I had the "balls" she would've given plenty more...  Anyway, you'll do it when / if the time is right.  I probably won't try to run there again for awhile.

Driving in Massachusetts in the slow lane this week....
at 75mph!
People were passing us like we were standing still,
and the cars behind us were less than 2 car lengths.

Then, 20 miles down the road, stop and go traffic ???

Sometimes I love Mass., other times I hate it.
