Years that Sidecovers fit 77 750F model
« on: July 06, 2005, 04:30:14 PM »
Does anyone know what years the right and left sidecovers fit on a 1977 750F model?  They seem unique from other years but I wondered if the 75-76 era would fit??? ???  Thanks, Mike

...very hard to find...77 &78F models use the same side covers and thats it!  Earlier models don't fit.   I see them on Ebay from time to time, never go for less that 30 or 40 a peice.  I have mine, bu they are in about 100 peices, so gonna get myself some glue and have at it...

Bummer ... thanks for the info.  I am surprised Maier or someone else hasn't come up with replacements.  Anyone have a nice right side for sale? :)

Thanks, that would be great ..... no need for the nomenclature since I am redoing them for a cafe'.  Both sides would be OK since my left has a couple repairs on it from the PO.  Let me know!  thx, Mike ;D

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the right side cover from 75-76 will fit 77-78. They have different badges of course. The left side cover has different mounting tab positions on 77-78 so is exclusive to those years.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

the right side cover will fit 75-78 on a supersport. The left is exclusive to 77-78. Ironically enough if you are in a pinch a left cover from a 77-78 K bike will fit, it just wont look right since it is a different shape. Since I don't have my left sidecover I am using a 77 K bike cover to keep crap out of the electrics.

Looking for a 77-78 left side supersport cover is someone has one.

www.davidsilverspares.co.uk does pattern panels in black plastic that you cant tell from original except that they are more flexible!! Cost about £30 each

You can get Maier(sp) panels from JC Whitney, however they have different mountings than stock. Rather than tabs to go in the rubber grommets, they have a screw type mount that goes into the rubber grommets. Also, you have to drill out the holes. I have them on my '76F, they look ok but not as nice as oem.

Maier does not make a 77-78 supersport LEFT sidecover (at least last time I checked), only the 75-76 panels are available (the 75-76 RIGHT side cover will work on the 77-78). The maier mounting pieces are garbage to use so if you can find original go for it.

Considering a 77-78 LEFT supersport sidecover sold on egay for over $100 it might not be so bad to order the David Silver panels at 30pounds. Anybody wanna get in on this and see if we can get a group rate?

Ture. they don't look that great, and the mounting is difficult at first, but I don't have to worry about ever discovering that they blew off. And they do look a lot better than that ugly oil bottle and that mess of wires!
