Need a standoff for the shock stud!! Any ideas!
« on: July 09, 2005, 08:32:20 AM »
I am replacing the Luggage rack and Sissy bar for my CB750F 1976.  I need to find standoffs to fit the shock stud.  Any body have a supplier or an idea.  The acorn nut is a 14mm and I think the stud is a 10mm. (Anybody know the thread size)  I would be real happy with a Hex-Male-Female-Standoff but in a pinch a standard Hex-Standoff with a bolt could do. Chrome or stainless would be nice.  Do you think there would be local suppliers?  I live in Louisville, Ky.  What type of place would carry these type of hardware?  It is beyond my normal hardware store.  Maybe some kind of machine shop supplier?  What do think I should look under in the yellow pages?

Any ideas appreciated!
THANKS!!!

tried to replace the acorn nuts on my 550k, they are the same 14 mm. went to the local True Value, they had a large selection of metric nuts/bolts. only had nuts no acorn style, but i know the nuts would work, dont look to good though.

Just a little clarification.  A Hex-male-female-standoff is like a bolt extension.  A hex-standoff is like a long nut that another bolt could be used with.  Both options succeed in extending the bolt.  I have found acorn nuts before, parts houses or hardware, they are pretty common.  A good supplier for all would be nice.

Thanks Again,
Joe

How did you get a luggage rack and sissy bar on an F with the way the seat and cowl come up together? I've wanted to do this for a while.
