When it did run it was quite fast, it would pull to peak power revs in top gear as easy as in lower gears.
I think if it was geared higher it would still pull it.
On the stock gearing it would top 118mph on the clock and run in the low 13s over the quarter mile at around 108mph.
I thought of putting it in an RS125 GP frame, that would really make it fly, the old chassis is quite heavy.
The weight of the rod and piston in the rear upright cylinder is the same as the combined weight of the two forward facing rods and pistons.
The tuning of the rear cylinder is also different to the other two, this is to get the balance right and makes it sound like a twin.
There are tuning parts available for them in Japan and they make them really motor on.

rear brake linkage using stock brake rod ends i cut off and threaded and welded (can't be to safe on something that stops ya) so now i'm waiting on rear shocks (i didn't like the 12.5 and i need something around 14) and a jet kit so that i can start puttin it all together but the good thing is all my mounts for the tank and seat are done as well as the brake switch and the electrics are housed under the seat and the battery will be in the seat hump but i haven't bought one yet.

thanks for the compliment! The angle in the round bar is kinda severe but i'm running the same basic setup on another bike but with smaller round bar. i wouldn't say it's standed the test of time because i haven't logged to many miles on my CL but i've locked the brakes up a couple times and really cranked down on the lever and checked the angles because i had the same question as you

anybody got some ideas for paint scheme and color

?? . i've got a few ideas but nothing that i'm really into. also license plate location i really don't want to see this thing but i think i'll mount it under seat in front of the tire not to clearly visible but i don't want to ruin the look with the plate on the back

That's looking pretty damn nice c91x! I'm happy to have contributed to your build, even if it was just a tappet cover

As far as paint it could go almost any direction... I've been liking all the silver and black I see on here lately. I wish I knew more about paint, I've got access to a small booth and I've only used it a couple of times. I've got a couple of guns, a binks 2001 and an old DeVilbiss, neither are HVLP but I don't think it would matter to much on a small job like a cycle. I would love to figure out how to get the really big metalflake like many of the customs from the 70's I think there's a few tricks to it, and I know the paint can be pricey. Are you thinking a pro job or DIY? It seems a shame to cover that alloy tank, you did say you'll leave the knee dents aluminum, right

? Anyway, I vote a dark smoke grey, dark green, red or black for the tank and seat. I know... thats a heap of help huh.

Anyway, keep posting the pics of the progress!

The large metal flake can be bought as a powder added to the paint or to the clear. From kustom Kolors, maybe?

well i'm gonna leave the knee indents and the top of the tank bare aluminum and paint the sides. so far i'm thinking a dark grey metallic or a darker red pearl and then the seat be painted a silver (aluminum color) downt he middle and the same red on the sides. I plan on painting it myself as these smaller jobs are pretty easy to do all the prep work and if you mess up wetsanding doesn't take days only takes hours. i'll post pics of the two colors i'm lookin at so far

here's my xr75 i sold a few months ago but i still have enough of this "rubber gray metallic" to paint mine ...what do you think

I'd say find a way to use both. It can be tastefully done.

I LOVE that little dirtbike. Granted I used to have one myself, so I'm a little biased. It what I learned to rid one.

wheew.. dem speed holes in that hub look really nice, not too many, not too big and perfectly spaced. nice build so far the paint will def. seal the deal.

all the electrical is done although i know the starter solenoid is showing here(it mounts under the tank) .... check her out

I have never had the rear hub apart, that being said, I have seen several cafe style bikes with the rear break arm turned up. With the lever turned up dose it work with a pull or is there something to be done inside the hub ? or do you just file the shaft down to accept the lever upside down.

the brake will apply pressure either way push or pull. once you get it apart you'll see why. no filing needed

The brake shoes are spread by a cam that works in either direction (push or pull).

Yeah I was wondering

-what tires/sizes are you running
-shock lengths (rear)
-did you need to extend any of the wires for the formerly under-seat electrics or did you take enough of the harness apart to have enough slack to completely hide them?
