ok...let me start off by wiping the drool off my chin... that's going to be a great bike when your finished.  Here's my 2 cents about color scheme...  While it's true that alot of bikes in the 70's had the big metal flake candy colors, not many were on the race bikes...the more I look at it, I'm not sure if a big metal flake paint would fit it...would definitely depend on the color...  about the gray color - that thing is to monstorous and cool to have a paint color like gray...gray just doesn't have the FLASH that your tank & cowl has... I'd pick a big bright color - honda red w/ the bare metal knee dents would be cool, or something along those lines...  If you really wanted some bling, you could polish the tank....it is aluminum - that would be crazy cool  -  you can clear over it (it can be done, my buddy does it all the time)..... Don't get me started on colors for bikes...
It's hard to go wrong with black...almost anything looks good in black.     What if you tried an ivory (kinda like the old racing whites of ford wimbleton white?) and put some dark blue racing stripes down the tank ?  or vice versa...  you have access to photoshop?

If you have some good res. shots of the sides and 3/4 angles I could whip you up something to look at if you like.

keep posting the pics.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

That's cool, lets have some details

Yeah I was wondering

-what tires/sizes are you running 120/90 and 100/90
-shock lengths (rear) 14" and some change off a cb750f
-did you need to extend any of the wires for the formerly under-seat electrics or did you take enough of the harness apart to have enough slack to completely hide them? i took the harness out of the braket made to house all of it and then mounted the flasher rectifier and fuse panel under the seat and then under the hump is the battery and tranformer( i think honda calls it something different)

Project looks great so far  ;)

M8 just read the post from the beginning, and i have to say that this is a bloody awesome bike so far and it inst even finished!!!!, i love what you did with the exhaust also, that was a good thought, must sound right loud also!!!!

about color, you could go black with the alloy knee outs, or some thing similar,  though what ever you do, considering the ammount of thought you have put in so far, will be great... well done 8)

I know i haven't updated but i moved to arizona and didn't really set up my garage and then i was racin motocross again and that was taken up most my time and i was havin a blast doin it and then..... class 3 AC seperation to my right shoulder so i started to tinker away and she fires to life ... i took it for a spin up to 5th at 5000  and she seems to handle pretty good in the turns but i didn't have the front brake so i was takin it easy....  here's a vid after i got back i ran in the house for the camera and came out to take the vid then it died.... realized i was out of gas

little teaser of the paint.. it's actually a darker red than what shows but so far it looks good with the red and polished knee indents

The brake shoes are spread by a cam that works in either direction (push or pull).

One think to look out for on the 550 (which I don't think occurs so much with the wider 750 frames?) is to watch the clearance between the torque arm and the shock/spring.

I'm just discovering this one whilst fitting my CB600 rear disc assembly :-\

I have seen and read plenty of stuff on guys doing cafe seats. But the one thing no one seems to mention is what they are doing for mounting it! Do you just have some sort of metal plate underneath the fiberglass and have it mounted to the stock seat mounts? Also what are you going to do for rear turn signals if any?

Very nice paintjob!
Looks soo classy with that dark red  8)

Might I suggest a thin gold pinstripe along the edge where the red meets the unpainted alloy?
It would tie that great looking tank together even more as it would match the gold in the Honda-wing emblem  8)

Cheers

alright i couldn't help but to roll it out and set the tank and seat on it.....so now i need to finish the electronic speedo mount, exhaust, and rear turn signals and then  ride it... it'll be fun to ride it being completely done

nothing is mounted so it's kinda lop sided

Very tastefully done there.  Any chance you would like to bend up a rear radius seat bar for me?  I you would, name a price.

Hey guys thanks for the compliments..... i stared at it for about 20 minutes and then noticed i missed a little bit of orange peel in the paint so i did some wet sanding and then buffed it.....

squirley: I bent mine to match the seat i made so i  really wouldn't know what you'd want plus i'm still 2 projects behind on my own stuff..make that three or four ... i think benji does a bolt on or weld on hoop.

Funjimmy: this is the only one i have..... this is awhile ago and was just for a mock up but it really hasn't changed besides the hardware i used... it looks kinda like a phone on its side if you get what i'm sayin

I thought that I would at least try. I haven't built my seat yet, I am going to bend the tube and build the seat to match.  I would do it myself, but unfortunatley my bender has recently vanished from my garage and gone to a new owner without my permission.  Anywho, very nice.
