Battery keeps draining !
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:47:52 PM »
Need help please... It's becoming a pattern...
I keep recharging batteries every other day.
I keep swapping out 2 batteries ( a newer one and a BRAND NEW one ).
She'll do fine today, fires right up, ride her around. It's still ok the next day...
On the third day, I am having problems starting up. But as soon as I swap out the battery, she fires right up...and then back to the pattern.
How and where do I start troubleshooting ?

Thanks for your help

Angelo

Someone will prolly be around with a more in depth answer....

But bottom line is thus.

Verify the bike is charging. A volt meter does handly at this.

If its charging then you have a short that is allowing the battery to drain.

Make sure you are not leaving the key on or the key in the park light position (this leaves the tail light on)

I'd venture a guess that your charging output is low. Remember these bikes don't charge much if at all below 3000 rpm.

Please check the fAQ section for info on checking your system

Seems pretty clear you either have a charging issue other bike don't have.

We probably can't help much without some data, like what your battery voltage is, and how many search lights or other electrical mods have been made to the bike.

Search lights! I knew there was something my bike needs!
I should be able to tow one of these pretty easy, hopefully the bike makes enough power!
