For the sync tools, test meters, aux. gas tanks and more, an old hospital IV stand is an excellent addition to the workshop. These have a heavy weighted base with wheels, a stand that is height adjustable, and curly hooks on the top to afix things. We picked some up cheap a few years ago in a local auction at a medical center for $5 each.
Another option: many of the old floor light (torchier lights) has a heavy weighted base - most of these have a thread you can use a broom stick in and then with some hose clamps you can make up a sync tool / gas tank stand easily.
