Instead of using the bolts and nuts you already are using to hold the bucket on, run the light through the same hole and put a nut on the inside of the bucket. Make sure your ground wires are attached.

I used a pair of lights distributed Lockhart Phillips and they fit the existing nuts inside the bucket so it was a dead simple bolt on. Most of the bullet lights seem to come from the same place (don't know the brand) and I bet your's will be the same.

A word of caution.

I did this on my last bike with dual headlights (SV650 with bates headlights no relation to a CB) and the bolts were long enough that when tightened they dented the reflector from the back.

There may be clearance and the dent didn't cause any issues, but I thought I would throw it out as something to check.

is it hard to run the wires for the signals into the headlight bucket.

Nope. Wires go into bucket through stems of signals. Connect to the existing wires (which on my 77 is one blue wire, one matching black with blue/white stripe; one orange wire, one matching black with orange/white stripe). I no longer recall which is right and left. You'll need to change the plugs on the end of each wire.

You'll regret someday for not doing a proper job!

Those should plug into the existing harness without modification.

Check out the finished product.  I've had bullets on my headlight bucket for a while.  Very east to install and wire and look good too.
