CM400T Timing
« on: August 08, 2007, 10:33:00 AM »
How do you check the timing on a 1979 CM400T?  I saw a little pointer on the stator side of the engine case and the rotor has T and F marks. Do you take the whole stator engine cover off to check it or am I missing something?

since the bike has a CDI ignition, timing is set at the factory and cannot be adjusted.

BUT, to answer your question, yes, the cover must be removed to check.

and timing is adjustable if you know how. Its worth checking as some were several degrees off ( not that it really caused any problems but they can be lower power as a result)
