Weekend camping on a CB750K4 -Boston - Berkshires, MA
« on: August 06, 2007, 06:12:10 AM »
Here are a couple of photos of my CB750K4 with "new" HM300 pipes installed (thanks to Kevin Smith for selling me them!) and new European bars (thanks Gordon for the recommendation). Basically rode out with girlfriend on the back,  from Boston on Rt16, then switched to Rt 20, and after a quick high speed blast on the Mass Pike, back onto Rt 20 at exit 3 - this is a great road after Springfield climbing up into the hills and some great twisties - bike handled great and at a good speed. Arrived at Lee (went to see Yo Yo Ma at Tanglewood) ~4hours after starting. Weather was 94 -96F all day - hot!

On the way back we went back along Rt 20 to exit 3 of Mass Pike then quick blast on pike to exit 8 going North on Rt 32 to Rt16 west taking this to Stow (great little cafe in Hudson - Cafe Ariba) where we headed along the very nice Rt 117 to Waltham and back to Roslindale (home) - this time taking ~5 hours. Total round trip mileage - 370 miles. No problems.

Pic shows MotoPak luggage - small tank bag has been great and rear saddle bag tied to back (cant fit a passenger when have both saddle bags on- but they come apart which is really handy and are very well made - good carrying handle and fit a lot of gear - I got the 40 litre ones - perfect size for tying one down on the back as shown). Cheap as well (well compared to Marsee which Ive had before - never again!)

96 degrees Celsius!!!  I'll say it was hot!!!   ;)

Seriously though, great post!  Thanks for sharing.  I hope to do something similar before winter comes... providing I ever finish my bike.

I really like that last picture.  Shows the diversity of the CB.   ;)

Thanks Andy! The photos are so much more descriptive than words! I always forget to take them though! I'm posting a long winded report on my weekend ride around lake Champlain and Lake George, it's also a great trip.

All best,
Ben

Exellent!

Did you go the Mass Pike, or Route 20 part way, or...?

From Boston went on Rt 16 to Rt 20 and then brief blast on Mass pike (exit 8 to exit 5 to get past Springfield) and back on Rt 20 all the way to Lennox/Lee :-) The last part made it for me. Great ride!

Coming back Rt 20 to Exit 3, Mass Pike - come off again at Exit 8 take Rt 32 north to Barre and cruise along the quiet Rt62 to Stow etc etc....much better!

cheers
Andy
