I took my carbs in to get rebuilt (it was supposed to be cheap!) and found out they are lunched. So I need to buy some used ones, get them rebuilt, then put some cone filters on them. This is fine, until I break down the cost:

Buy: $50 if I'm lucky on eBay AND they are rebuildable
Rebuild: $80 or tackle myself--which I hate doing
Cone filters $50 or so from K&N?

So thats $180 and it sucks.

There are also some 32mm Mikuni's on eBay--brand new. Thing is, they are $300. Is it worth it? If so, I'll bite the bullet, but I admit that I might be tempted by the fact that I won't have to f_ck with the things.

Any bike junkyards in your area?  It could save you some cash, and you get to look befroe you buy.

There is one, where I got the bike. I'll check with them too, but my concern is that I will be in the same situation as now: basically, a needle jet is lodged in there and won't come free or something similar. I'd prefer to buy from someone reputable on here or just buy the new ones I posted...in that order.

rebuilding carbs is really not that big of a deal, I'm sure you can do it yourself and about the pod filters,  I'd say forget them and run the stock air box with a drop in K n' N filter if you can find it. If you question your ability to rebuild carbs dont think about trying to tune them to run with cone filters, no offense

I run a 98 CBR900RR motor in my car, and I've rebuilt those carbs many times. Basically a needle jet wasn't seating and I had to go through each carb one by one until I figured out what was wrong.

So I get it...basically.

The old carbs on the CL350 are a completely different beast, or so it seems. I'll take your advice and have a go at rebuilding my new ones.
