I dont know, there is something to be said for bikes with center stands! You can get your groove on without worrying so much about tipping over! Not a bad bike though, just too much polishing for me :D

My wife and I have an '04 883 Custom.  It is very nice to ride two up or alone, has good power for being the 'baby' twin and has proven to be reliable though the stock rear shocks suck (not progressive, not much dampening either).
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175

the sportster is harleys "hot rod" 45 degree twin. i've never ridden an evolution sporty but i can tell you i loved my ironhead sportster both in stock form and when i chopped it. the 4 cam motor was originally built in 1951 as a side valve motor called the k motor, in 1957 it became the ohv sportster. they were originally built to be competition for the cheap, fast british imports of the day.

I agree with Proteal - I saw the new Nightster in a magazine a month or so ago and then at a dealer a few weeks ago.  The all black is great looking - I thought they may even have one in flat black.

In 1988 I bought an 1100 Sportster.  It's the only Harley model I really ever liked.  I had the dealer replace the "cruiser" handlebars off and replace them with the shorter, straighter bars off of an 883 as I liked the looks better.  The Nightster already has them.   IT rode great. as you already know, and was very reliable.  I wish I'd never sold it.

I would love to own either Sportster again or even better - a Nightster.  Great looking bikes.  I'm not a huge fan of excess chrome so I would go with the Nightser over the Sportster - But would love to have either one.

Sam the way i drove this bike im surprised nothing did fall off.probably why i liked it.i did manage to lose two nuts and bolts that held the wind shield together tho ::)traffic in Halifax is nothing like in Toronto.i took advantage of the wide open highways.Denyse (the lady on the bike )was begging me for a ride.after an hour or so on the highway i think she was thinking of begging me to get off the bike 8)like i said i rode the #$%* out of this bike in pretty hot weather without a hitch.a buddy of mine had an 883.but most of our hells angel buddies laughed him in to selling it (chickster, skirtster,is that your sisters bike that type of thing)he said it was bullit proof.i myself can take the verbal abuse as long as i have something semi reliable.so its off to the dealership this weekend  and have a look.the only problem i forsee is in canada the insurance rates are a killer on the wallet :'(

Well Nick and Neil, allthough I don't like Hardleys, I do like the sound of the motors.

A mate of mine Phil Wood (Woody) races one. It's the V Rod Destroyer.

Have a look at him on this site who sponsor him.
