WER (West Europe Ride)
« on: June 05, 2007, 12:56:38 PM »
OK this is it first call for the 10th WER.

For those who do not know. The WER is a Day ride/meet with camping posibilities.
We usualy pick a weekend somewhere in July.

The usual program is very relax.

We pick a camping spot. On friday members can arrive, we find a place to eat and drink a few beers  ;D
and decide what we will do on saturday.

Saturday do what we planned and have a few beers in the evening. If want you can show up for the day.

Sunday pack and ride home.

We usualy pick a camping place somwhere central.

So if you like to join, let me know and state your prefered weekend in july.

Hope to see many of you,

Hi Johnny,

I'd love to join you if it can be the 20th/21st of July.

I know of a campground in Francorchamps if you were looking for a camping suggestion.  10 EUR / night.  The campground is behind a hotel (so non-campers have an option), and the hotel bar is well stocked in Chouffe.  < 1km from the track.  They have the Porsche Sport club that weekend, but every weekend during the summer has something, so it would tend to be a bit crowded.

This sounds like a good plan, although i'm not much of a camper. If the weather co-operates i'm willing to give it a shot though.

I'm from Amsterdam too David, I ride a blue 76' 550F.

Aren't you the guy that wanted to ship his 750 from the US? How did that work out?

Camping is optional, just to keep costs down. We can also get a cheap hotel like the 'F1' chain.

Yep, that's me.  It worked out very well.  I paid no taxes since it's older than 25 years, and the MPH speedo wasn't even an issue.  I just caught up with Rene in Apeldoorn for some parts, and it looks like there aren't any worries in that respect.  My only remaining issue now is finding a stalling in the Oud Zuid.  The bike's currently in a friend's garage in Amersfoort and I don't get to ride nearly as often as I'd like with it there.

How often do you go out riding?  Is your name Ivar? (guessing from your email address)

Yeah my name's Ivar.
I ride quite a lot, my bike's my only transport but I drive it for fun mostly. If it's not snowing I'm always driving somewhere in the weekend, my girlfriend rides too so we tour a lot together.
You'll like it at Rene's place, he has lot's of stuff, and is a nice guy. Tell him I said hello.

My girlfriend is also looking for a stalling, but we're in the Jordaan. She's heard a few maybe's , so if more than one is available i'll let you know for sure.
What I did last time is make 250 flyers, and put them trough every mailbox in my neighbourhood. That worked for me.
A normal price for a motorycle seems to be 45 to 55 Euro's a month. kinda expensive for such a small space, but it's better than leaving it out in the rain right?

If you're bored and wanna go for a ride sometime send me an e-mail David.

Oh, well. I'd love to come, but Holland just for a weekend is a bit far for me..... I'm from Poland, so, it's few kms to do. Anyway, looks like it will be an "dutch party" there..  :)
I hope You will get good weather!

Sorry to all of you who have responded. Due to unexpected circumstances in my private live I am not able to organise a WER this year.

But take note for wer 2008, 3rd weekend of July. Unless something unexpected comes along.

Take care.
