Patches on jackets
« on: August 08, 2007, 12:07:57 PM »
I picked up some patches to put on my Jacket and their the iron on or stitch type.

Whats the best way to attach to my old leather jacket? I sorta hate to stitch it own.

Do not use glue.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Take it to a specialist that works with leather and have them do it.

If you hand stich it, it's going to look like ass.

If you put it under a sewing machine, it'll look better, but then your liner is going to be all cattywhompus.

Spend a few bucks and get it done right.

I wish I had.

Tip:
You can't put leather under a regular sewing machine.
If you do this the machine will surely break, and if your girlfriend is anything like mine she will break something on your bike to get even.  ;)

Thanks fellows, you prodded my memory. I had a local gal stitch in the new zippers on my
old jacket, I bet she can do the patches too!

staples maybe, duck tape no, it covers the patch and is only suppose to be used on ducks. ;)

Get as many done at the same time as possible.  I had one put on and it cost me $12.  They opened the liner, sewed the patch on and closed the liner back up.  All the labor is in opening/closing the liner.

so, the liner isn't supposed to be falling out of my hand me down leathers?

It wouldn't have "charactor" if it didn't.
