Paint idea
« on: August 09, 2007, 05:50:39 AM »
I'm just fishing for some input into my paint scheme.

The first two pictures are a top view (obviously) of the bike. Currently I just have the solid blue. As I was painting it I realized that it really needs something down the center. I don't want to go too crazy, but just something to set it apart.

I was thinking either  white stripes:

Or maybe some checkers:

I figured they would have to be off center, you know?

As for the side of the bike, should I paint the side covers?

Or use them as a number plate?

Or should I leave it as a solid blue and not touch the side covers?

I like the first idea. I'd keep the side covers plain, I know there's lots of things you want to do but that doesn't mean you should put them all into the same bike.

I like #1 too... or two fairly wide white stripes.

I dig the stripes much better than the checkerboard.
You can do an offset stripe as well (like on my Duke) -->

Kinda hard to tell in that pic but the stripe is towards the right of the tank (more than the center)..

I'm a fan of the offset stripe as well.

Don't paint the sidecovers but new emblems would look good on em.

Go with the white strip like this.   I painted the tank and fender white. then layed down some 2 inch and 1/4 inch tape from the auto parts store, then the red, then the clear.

Agreed!!

I actually still have the original emblems that I can throw on... somewhere... The wholes are already drilled for them and everything. Maybe I will put them back on...

Thanks for the feedback, all. I think strips it is!!
