Happiness is a Good SOHC!
« on: August 11, 2007, 10:56:18 PM »
Hi All CB Fans,

I've owned my 1974 CB750 since 1975. It was my first street bike. I've enjoyed riding it all over California. It's been a street custom, a cafe racer, and is currently pretty much back to stock. I'm in the process of repainting it to original specs. Does anyone have any leads for locating the stock decal stripes for the tank? I can paint them myself but it's gonna be a real pain with the white, gold, and black stripes.  My CB750 shares it's garage with my '79 CBX, '84 'Wing Interstate, Trail 90, and a Yamaha DT175. My CB750 has never left me stranded on the road. I love being able to adjust the idle, clean out a carb, etc, with no tools. It was great in it's day and it still turns heads today and is getting damn rare to see except at shows.

Check these out. Not sure if they're still good.

Oh yeah, greetings from Colorado.

Welcome.  I see you are in Fresno.  I am out in Perris, having recently moved from Garden Grove.  I can still remember how nice it was riding around SoCal back in the '80's (I have had my '72 350f since early '80's).  Now a bit more cars about but still some less traveled roads in Riverside County.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175
        1964 Yamaha YGS-1T
No ride is a Bad ride

Thanks to all for the welcomes. Riding in So Cal in the 70s was great. the Ortega Highway was little traveled on weekdays and you could go as fast as you dared! I moved to the Bay area in the late 70s and rode almost every weekend on Skyline drive and Highway 9. The CB750 was still a decent ride back then if you redid the front forks with progressive springs, put on decent rear shocks, new swing arm bushings, tapered steering head bearings, some dunlop TT100s, etc and learned to ride it up to the wobbles! WFO and crawl up on the tank. I ran it in the quarter at Baylands drag strip too. 13.10 was the best I could get it to stock. faster than a Harley anyhow...

I finally got my paint job finished. I did it myself with help from the decal kit (expensive and tricky to get right).  It tuned out really well though. I 'm just getting it all back together now and am waiting on new float valves from NZ I bought on ebay. Another few weeks and I'll be riding it again. I can't wait!
