A Blast From the Past From an Old Honda Owner's Manual
« on: August 12, 2007, 05:09:27 PM »
In the back of my CA95's Owner's Manual, There are pictures of Honda's different assembly plants, as well as the machines manufactured there. (Notice it's not just bikes...)

Enjoy!

Most of the Japanese companies make an amazing number of products. Kawasaki builds ships, Airplanes, Helicoptors, Trains and Tunnel boring equipment.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Mitsu and Hitachi make even more stuff.

Very cool photos.  I found some information on the history of the CB750 that mentions that the Saitama plant made engines for the first CB750's while the body was made at Hamamatsu.  Those plants couldn't keep up with demand, so in 1971, engine and body manufacturing was moved to Suzuka, which was making the CB500/4 at the time.

Very cool post, especially the tillers. ;-)

Sometime way back, Honda decided on a strategy of 5 (mebbe it was 6) Honda's in every garage. That's why they focused, and still focus, hard on engine technology. The rest becomes a platform for a Honda engine. Honda has a commercial -- with a car, motorcycle, generator, lawnmower, etc. -- that pretty much sums up the strategy.

And I'd guess it's how CVCC technology made it to SOHC/4's.

The pictures are quite literally a snapshot of that strategy.
