Shipping a motorcycle to Australia from North America
« on: August 20, 2007, 07:22:34 AM »

Anyone have any experience with shipping a bike to Australia?  I am thinking about crating my Goldwing and shipping to Australia.  I am going to check costs to see if buying a bike there is any cheaper than shipping.
Any comments on bike prices in Australia would be appreciated.  Is it possible to check e-bay for Australian bikes only?

That's right, Terry shipped a 750 from NY.

I take it that you plan to ship your bike because you want to trip around Australia. Based on experiences I've read over the net, unless you feel very attached to your bike, it's easier to buy the bike locally and sell it when you leave. That way you end up losing less money than shipping a bike round trip.

My plan was to ship the bike to Australia and leave it there.  I have some friends there and they can ride it until I get back there again.
No Idea yet about the price for shipping.  The internet shows lots of places that rent bikes for approx. 150/day which isn't too bad.
