« on: September 01, 2007, 07:31:35 PM »
i have some very dear friends getting married and i jokingly asked if i could be best man. they told me "no, we'd rather you married us" i asked if they were serious and they said yes. i went to the website for the church of new life ministries. i gave em my info and a 14.95 paypal payment and i'm now legally able to marry and baptize people.

With a little more checking I'll bet you could figure out how to not pay any income tax. Oh I know, declare your house a chapel and marry them at home. ;D

Price has gone up.

During the Vietnam war you I think you could become a minister for $1 and start a church for $5.  Or was it $5 and $10?  One of the other GHOF will remember.

My wife and I were married by our friend, Lizzy.  I don't remember what church she was ordained through, but it was one of those internet things.  We figured we'd rather have a good friend perform the ceremony as a gift to us than some minister we don't even know who's really only doing it for a paycheck.

I'm pretty sure those are the same guys who were especially popular during the Vietnam war.

Dusthawk - Has anyone called you asking for your minister services? I became Rev. Boatsdickson in '03, and Ive had two people call me that I dont even know asking for marriage rites. Maybe Im on a published list or something. Just curious...  8)

In NY you cannot Marry people if your are ordained by the Universal Life Church. If you want a tax break you better have everything 100% right the IRS will look up your butt on your first tax return. They flag that in their systems. But I guees it would be a hoot to marry someone. Maybe I will look into it, I have pizzed away $15 and did not have any fun. I guess I will have to retire from the Babe thread since it would be unseemly for a Man of the Cloth to be in involved in such goings on.
