Snake In My Building
« on: August 13, 2007, 07:59:41 PM »

I went out top my Building (a 12x 14), that I had previously found a snake in several years ago, and as I walked into the building, I notice a "pile of something" on my small workbench. ??? I stopped and looked..... and VERY quickly left the building. Then I cautiously eased back towards that area to make sure of what I thought I saw. Sire enough, there was one big snake! Don't have a clue, to this day, as to what kind it was. Later, I would realize that it was about 3 & 1/2 foot long and about 1 & a half inches in diameter! Now, all I had to take care of it was my Pump up BB/Pellet gun! I remember thinking, when I bought it several years ago (to run off possums with), that this sucker is a pain to pump up after a bit. I can tell you one thing, for certain, I killed that snake with that BB gun and I Don't Remember having any problem pumping that sucker up between shots either. "Can Anyone Say Adrenaulin Rush!" I snuck up on him for that first shot and, after that stunning blow, he didn't stand a chance! ;D

    My thought is:
A snake may not hurt me, but it can cause me to hurt myself! :-\

                              Later on, Bill :) ;)

I walked into a building I was renovating and coming down the studs from the ceiling was about a 5 foot black snake.  I did not know I could move so fast in reverse.  Turned out it was Oscar, the local rat killer.

I walked out my front door about 2 months ago and going down my steps was a nice big 5-6 foot snake.  I caught him in a trash can and after much debating decided where I could let him go where he would cause no harm.  I assumed he was a copperhead(I'm no herpetologist).  Turned out to be my neighbor's pet ball python that had escaped a week earlier.  I felt really bad, but come on, let folks know when your 6 foot pet snake gets out.

Congrats to you for your catch and release program!  I also try remove snakes rather than kill them, although if I thought one was a copperhead, I'm not so sure.

I've even done catch and release with Black Widow spiders before.  Maybe they all will give me good kharma one day.   ;)

THAT sure wouldn't be good. Just goes to show you that there are LOTS of things to be thankful for, like, "NOT finding a snake in my sidecar, or something!" ::) ;D Take care Chris. ;)

I'm not bothered by snakes.  I have a 6ft (and still growing) Boa that I keep in a bin beside my bed.  The wife is fine with it too! She hates the Tarantula at the foot of the bed though (also a pet).

To each his own, but it's not for me. I don't mind seeing them at the Zoo or on TV, but not on my property and definitely not in my building, garage or my house. ::)

No, but I have had to step over him to get out of my front door.
He likes sunning himself on the front porch!  :o
