Jetting and sprocket question?
« on: July 01, 2007, 06:14:58 PM »
Can anyone give me a ballpark main jetting on a 1975 cb750k5 with a 4 into 1 header and pod air filters. the header is currently open but I will be adding about a foot of exhaust pipe to it. Do I also have to change the idle jets? Do I have to adjust the air mixture screws.  My second question is regarding sprockets. I need a new chain and sprockets. I would like my bike to power wheelie if possible. What sprocket sizes would achieve this. I would still like the bike to be able to go 100 mph. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks again!!!!!!

Well, I have pods and aa stock 4-into-1. I'm currently running 120's and it is just a touch on the rich side. I'd say start there and test it a bit (Plug Chops) to see if that works for you. You may need the 125's, too, with the open header.

As for the Wheelies, I would think you would want a smaller front and/or a larger rear sprocket. What gearing are you running now? Stock? Try dropping the front down one tooth. That will give a little extra grunt on the bottom and not take away too much top end. Remember, though, that these are 30+ year old bikes that are heavy and not realy as powerful as modern machines. Wheelies are going to be tough to get out of them.
