Spitfire---she's lookin good pal. That was good planning on your part to smother it in grease to protect and preserve the bike.

It's good to see you had a helper involved, I wish more kids would be interested in stuff like that as opposed to playing video games all day. Definitely gotta take him for a ride.

The motor was just very carefully cleaned with kerosene, white spirit, sticks, old toothbrushes, a dremel with a wire brush and lots of skinned and bruised fingers. Then I sprayed it with VHT engine enamel, the smaller parts were baked in the oven, the larger bits will have to bake when the engine warms up. Caution is required do not bake for too long as the silver goes a yellowish colour.
Dean most certainly will be coming out on the bike with me, he is a more outdoors orientated type kid than most, though he does play on video games as well. We have taken him to several bike and car racing events and he loves it.

Love the pics going through the rebuild.  I have a GS 1000 I am going to try to use the VHT enamel on.  Thanks for the pointers through pictures!  End result, awesome looking older bike.
