I just sent him a message through e-bay but doubt he'll post it to the sale.

"What sets this bike apart from the hundreds others out there in better condition for a fraction of the asking price?  Just wondering if I'm missing something?"

I thought there was a place in California, that would sell you a fully restored sandcast for $10,000. Maybe thats the price for a die cast?

Where exactly do you see hundreds of other unrestored, original sandcast CB750's for sale?  Not saying I'd buy it for that price, but then I'm not in the market for a sandcast either.

I was thinking that a restored version, complete with uncracked air box, decent paint, and non-holy mufflers would be worth more, to me, than this bike and I've seen many over the last few years shoe up on various sites for less.
You could easily assemble one on your own for under $6K -$8K if you took the time based on the parts listed on e-bay in a given week.

Not saying that someone wouldn't pay it, I just don't see it as worth close to what he's asking.  But i'm not a sandcast guy myself so maybe there are those that would love it.

This is a fair price for what he is selling. The price of the unique K0 parts alone is several thousand dollars....add the "sandcast" part and you are into a lot more.  Anyone who has restored a K0 with "original" parts..not repro...can tell you this.

Keep in mind, you are dealing with an extremely rare, original, unrestored bike. These will always get top dollar from a collector as you are dealing with bikes that exist now in the hundreds at most as opposed to the thousands for later models.

As I said in the eBay section, if you buy this and put it in a vacuum bag for ten years it will do better than most investments you could make.

Yeah, but you have to admit that $12,000 for a tank would have been a bit much! ;)
