best "original" looking seat cover k2 and Trim?
« on: August 19, 2007, 07:03:43 AM »
can anyone suggest (from experience hopefully!!) what the bestest looking and most original looking seat cover for a 1972 cb750 k2 is?
I need one, and also TWo trims for the same seats....
I am in the  Uk as some of you allready know of course, but i dont mind buying from the usa at all especially if the parts are correct.
I am looking for a "stock restoration" on my K2 , so would like the cover to look as near to the original as poss!
The trims, i dont mind if they are alloy, chromed, stainless etc, just as long as they look the part....
thanks a lot, in advance,
I have been away for ages, but now I am back yes!
I was "nearly" back a while ago, but this was a "false recovery"
nasty things can some viruses be, anyways glad to be back.

In my own experience...
It wasn't a Previous Owner who didnt know what he was doing that messed up your bike, it was The Previous owners mate who THOUGHT that HE did.

Anyone ?

Didn't find any on David Silver Spares... except for complete seats.  JC Whitney's doesn't inspire me with confidence - the
only photo they have isn't correct looking & the only review of the CB750 cover isn't good.
My foam is good, just want a good cover.

Or...maybe add some foam to the rear and get a ducktail cover - always liked the looks of those.

Anybody bought one recently that they like ?

There's an ebay auction here http://cgi.ebay.ca/CB750-seat-cover-for-Honda-CB750K-CB-750-Duck-tail_W0QQitemZ160249515102QQihZ006QQcategoryZ35589QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem   for a seat cover. I emailed a buyer of a cover for the K0 about the quality and fit - he said he was very satisfied. It looks like the seller has covers for all the years, just scroll down a bit for ordering instructions.
Cheers,
Cliff.

I ordered a seat cover from the site magpie linked for my 1976.  The cover is very nice but its actually a quilted seat not the orginal sealed seam vinal as I belive the stock covers were.  There was also no trim included...you had to cut the original off and reuse.  But I think thats pretty standard.

I don't mind that it's stitched....not going to be a concours bike.  Do you like the overall quality, fit etc ?
How's the strap ?

Thanks for the link Magpie....I've been surfing ebay all evening & somehow missed those.

I got a seat cover from that site (gumtwo) for my CB77 and it was a really high quality product.  I wouldn't recommend them for a concours bike, because their covers are better than original, which makes them incorrect.  Absolutely top quality, good fit, stenciled 'HONDA' on the back, usable strap, easy installation(with instructions) and quick shipping.

You're welcome!
If you want a whole new seat these guys seem good http://www.hondanuts.com/cb750.html Scroll down a bit and there's new seats for $230. I bought a new K1 seat from them and it's a genuine Honda product complete with strap, chrome trim, latch/catch, spring and rubber blocks - the whole meal deal. There were good to deal with too.
Just a thought,
Cliff.

Good looking bike....and seat.  Makes me think I might go ahead and pony up for a whole new seat.
That would leave me a seatpan to experiment with a Guillliari shape.
