I agree.  The term "Old School" is used so many times now for so many different ideas that it has lost it's original meaning, if it had one to begin with.  "Old School" to somone in their 80's would be different than for someone in their 20's.

I don't know, I thought the part where Will Ferrell shoots himself in the neck with a horse tranquilizer was pretty good.

Wait, how did I get here?  I thought this was the Shameless (now the movie reference) thread.

Sorry!

One Sunday I took a ride to the OCC shop. Wanna talk about crude looking bikes. They are old school compareded to the California designers that bend frames that look like scuplture. Close up the OCC paint jobs are crap. People stood there and said "what craftsmanship". I went home and had a Makers Mark. That was craftsmanship.

Kan I add Kustom Kulture and all the gay uses of K's and Z's in words.  (Except for Kustom speaker cabinets from the 60's, (man those are old school)).  I guess advertizing Katch wordz in general pizz me off somewhat.

A couple of observations regarding the mistakes in this thread so far...

First off you guys seem to be watching the OCC show the wrong way.  The volume must be down completely so you can't hear the cr@p being spewed about.  It is much more educational  using this method.

Second, I just check a couple of profiles of contributers in this thread and the ones that listed your age are in denial about how old you actually are.  We (yes I said we) are old enough to be doing things "old school" every day.  At 50, when I hear that phrase and I look up, I typically see things done the way I would do them anyway.  I then say to myself" looks normal to me".

Now back to the shameless thread.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

HAHAHAHAHA, I always wondered why the paint brand was named "House of Kolor". There is a spanish magazine that claims to promote the "Kustom Kulture" and covers "choppas", "hot rods", pin-ups, rockabilly, well, almost anything 50's. What I don't get is why is that called "Culture". Culture involves many more things than fashionable objects, at least in my opinion. I can speak about "american culture", "spanish culture", or "medieval culture" that is related about knowledge, artistical expression, economy etc. Bikes or hot rods can be a way of expression if you are the builder, or a complement if you "wear" them. Can't see where the culture is. On the contrary, it would be much more appropiate to call it "Kustom art" as you can talk about "pop art" or "industrial art". Talking about kustom kulture is like being a heavy metal maniac and claim you belong to the "metal culture", because under your physical appearance and your musical tastes, you share the same culture than the rest of your contemporaries...

OCC sucks, but I see it because I love to see anything about bikes. What I can't stand is when those morons crash their new SUV's against the building "to have some fun". Are you stupid? How many people would like to have that car? What do you want to prove? That you make enough to use that car as a disposable commodity?

Yeah, for me the term "old school" equates to "lack of originality".  If you can't come up with something original, you call it "old school".  It really has no meaning any more.

I think "Old School" is another way of saying traditional. It is just overused and will die out like the rest of the catchy crap does.

I go away for a few hours, come back, and you're all bashing my name.  Geeeez.
Seriously though, it is a bit overused.  I'm sure it comes out of your own mouths though.  In my opinion, old school would encompass anything 20 years or older.  I consider things from my early childhood and before to be old school, I'm 26.

Well put. I guess old school is anything from when I was 26.  :'(

Hey, I use "mint" in everyday conversation. Like, "that chick is mint" or "that was so mint" or, "Would you like a mint? No, really, you should have a mint. Take two, they're small." ;D
