I need to re-evaluate my decision to ride on city streets...

Get that man an armored personel carrier. And some Grill paint. ;D

And for those of you who do not know that pic in terrys avit is an actuall photo! :D ;D :D ;D :D

It may seem wrong, but I pick and choose my moments and places to ride. Around here there are a few places I would not drive with a full platoon to protect me. Education and awareness. You cant fix stupid...
And gentlemen, there are are a great deal more of them, than there are of us.

Hell people try to kill walkers as well.

I was 18 and walking across a mall parkinglot at 8am to my gig at the family pet store.

This old coot veers off the drive area towards me and jokingly swerves like he's going to hit me.  He probably didn't like my half shaved head and wide mowhawk.  I kept walking straight towards him ready to jump through his windshield.  He's only going 10 - 15mph.

At the last minute he swerves away like I figured and punted my Doc Martin into his passenger door as hard as I could.  He turned and looked at me wide eyed.  I gave him the finger with one hand, and waved at him to come back around with the other.

He just kept going...   what a pity

Top priority on my list of saftey checks while riding is to NEVER ride in someone's blind spot.  Car, truck, suv, semi, whatever... don't cruise past the cages, twist that throttle and get in front and with in view pronto!
Just today I was on the way to campus in my very small honda crx (bike has been immobilized and waiting on parts) and some coot on a massive shelving storage rack of a harley cruises without care in my blind spot all the way through a highway merge from 2 lanes to one lane.  If I hadn't been already aware of him there would've been no way of knowing he was next to me and he would've been testing out the durablity of his cranial protective headband, in place of a proper helmet, and cutoff jean jacket.   >:(

hey cars are not immune either.i purchased the yellow Toyota celica thats behind my bike in my avatar new in 2002.i only had it for three weeks. i was driving home from work with a buddy. we are approaching a red light and it turns green.as I'm about to enter the intersection my buddy makes some kind of inaudible sound.then i see the problem a 15 year old Hyundai pony coming from my left.the only time she notices me is when i jam on the brakes.as my car starts coming to a screeching halt the driver of the pony casually takes time from her cell phone to look in my direction.ah the expression on her face as i broadsided the middle of her car was classic.i got out of my car to survey the damage.which was extensive.i was so pissed that when my friend asked the women if she was alright,i yelled f#%k her look at my car. :'(.other than that when I'm on my bike i try to antisipate everything that could happen.as Goatbass said you cant fix stupid.all you can do is hope stupidity doesn't happen around you.

oh ya.it was cosmetic damage.the airbag didn't even go off.it looked worse than it was.after i settled down her husband who i guess she called after the accident shows up and starts questioning my speed.standing almost nose to nose with me.my buddy could see what was about to happen and stepped in between us.speed limit is 40 km per hour so i said i was doing 39.9km . but what does that have to do with your "better half" :-\ running a red light.my friend is nodding at the guy as if to say thats right buddy. husband then turns around and starts yelling at his wife.i lite up a smoke and started laughing at how dumb this was all getting.problem in Ontario is we have no fault insurance.so my rates went up  :-\and the value of my car dropped significantly :'(

i read somewhere that some states where if a driver tries to force you off the road, it counts as attempted murder/manslaughter, and you can legally shoot them or at them to make them go away

self defense
