Paul, that's exactly what I'm trying to do (is the best I can). ;)

I have to say Paul, that I feel quite honored that you take the time to offer your support here, when you've got some much going on with your Sister's ordeal and all!  We really SHOULD have been Brother's!

I had a Sister who was (what they use to call) a Welfare Child that my parents took in when she was 12 and I was a "newborn". She helped raise me just like a "Big Sister". Her mother (I use the term loosely) would not take care of her, but would not give her up for adoption. So, she lived with us just as if she HAD been adopted. I've ALWAYS considered her to be my "Big Sister". Margaret was Special! When my Mom was diagnosed with cancer back in 2001, Margaret was there to help in any way she could and when my Mom died, she took care of ALL the details AND helped my Dad AND me through THAT time. Then, about "One Year", after my Mom died, Margaret's heart started giving her problems (she had had heart problems before) and before I hardly knew what had happened, she was gone. When I five myself a chance to think about her, I miss her terribly.   I didn't really plan to tell this, it just seemed to happen.

                              Take care All, Bill ;)

Dude!  You had to know there was a chance this would happen.  We ALL wish that it wouldn't, but if there is one constant in the universe, it's a$$h0les.(Pardon the language, but I'm sure it's nothing you haven't thought yourself).  Not to pry, but how do they justify being owed anything?

333, This is where I need to apologize to you, because I completely misread what you wrote about being owed anything. :-[ I am more tired than usual and somehow took it that you were talking about me being owed anything. I'm so glad that I reread it AND wish I'd done it before I typed my response.

To answer your question, My (so-called) brother thinks that everything has a price tag on it. To give you an idea of what I mean, once I had a fellow offer me $100 for an old Indian Motorcycle Manual (actually an Army Tech Manual) for the military model 741 and I turned him down. That manual was from my Granddad's shop and I will not part with it. My brother said, "That was when 2 fools met!" When he helps someone, in any way, he ALWAYS expects the favor to be returned (and usually in a Bigger way!)! Apparently, Jan is just like him! In his "Twisted Mind", he thinks that he is in the right AND that all this is MY fault! After this is all settled, I want nothing more to do with him.

i know just how you feel Bill. after my mom died, my 3 former brothers really showed how they felt about my mom. they were technically only my half brothers as their mom died in 62 and dad married my mom in 67, i came along a year later. but the day the inheritance checks were recieved they proceeded to tell me how they wish dad had never married my mom that they never liked her, that dad would have been better off without her. my mom treated them like they were her own blood kids, i never really thought of them as anything but my brothers. but now, i wouldnt piss on em if they were on fire. at first i was bothered about having no family basically but i realized that i really am better off without them.

Don't blame you a bit, fuzzy. I'm sure that your Mom was one fine Lady AND those 3 certainly didn't deserve the way she tried to take care of them. That's the way I feel about David (and he's my brother by blood!). When David was in high school (he's almost 10 yrs younger than me), he said that Dad was going to Divorce My Mom and he was really glad. I immediately told him that he was crazy, they'd been together for many years and would never do that. And they didn't! She died in Feb, 2002. My Dad might not remember SOME things, but he tells me how they met, what he thought the 1st time he saw her and lastly that he has never regretted marrying her and that it was the best thing he's ever done.

Don't forget that you've got a Brother right here! ;)

Hey, Bill, I've been away for a bit, and I didn't want to post until I caught up. I'm so very glad to hear that things with your dad are ever improving, especially the trips to Denny's and church, but I can see the bumps and backward steps along the way. You are both in my prayers, and I do pray that you make some time for yourself. If for nothing else, you need to take care of yourself so you can continue to take care of others. We worry about you, and at the same time, we look to you as a model of dedication.

I want to echo something Fuzzy said a few pages back. I lost my pop a couple of years ago. I miss him very much, and I know that when I get to glory, he'll be the first I find. I am so happy for you and your dad that you have this time together, and I respect the work--physical, emotional, etc.--that you've endured to make this happen.

Well, We ARE going to make one heck of an effort to make the Barber Museum Date in Oct. 8)

Lord only knows how long it's going to take to get this thing wrapped up. ::) Might know that they will drag this out as long as possible. :P But, the longer it takes to get things finished up, the longer I have to see if my Dad will get used to being up here with us. Of course, when this IS all settled, if he still wants to move back to his home, then that's what we will do! :) After all, it IS about Him! ;)

Thanks for the kind words Will. Yeah, I've managed to get him out at least twice a week for a little while now and, sometimes as many as 3 - 4 times a week (at least twice). I recently took him to Wal Mart to pick out a bill fold, because he was ready for another one. ;) So far, I've taken him to 5 different places to eat, and he's really enjoyed ALL of them (Denney's, Western Sizzlin, The Village Inn, Applebee's and Calico County). He's always complementary about the food, the coffee and the service.

I really feel for those of you who've lost your Dad's (or ANYONE, who was close to you, for that matter) and even though I've still got mine (thank GOD), I lost my Mom in 2002 and my Sister in 2003. I miss the 2 of them terribly. I had to do what I could, to make sure that my Dad was "properly" taken care of, no matter what it would take.  And I got some mighty "Valued" Support AND "Info" from you ALL. 8) ;)

I couldn't have made any difference without God AND the Support from You All! ;)

Thank you for that, Paul. I just do what I feel needs to be done, ya know? Only one's left, are me and David (and David doesn't want to be bothered, while I feel that it's a responsibility that we have). ;) I'll have to say that I'm getting quite an education in taking care of my Dad (both Legally AND medically).

On a side note: My wife is a diabetic (not insulin) and says that, if and when she needs insulin shots, I can give her hers. ::)

BTW, the Lawyer wants us to come down and discuss how to proceed with this (they, the S & S team, are dragging things out by claiming that there are numerous things to be settled (in their favor). I have to talk with my Dad, but I'm going to suggest that we do a package deal and include getting them out of the house that they aren't paying for and be done with the whole nine yards. My Dad is tired of this (and so am I, of dealing with the knowledge of them having his things AND living in a house that clearly belongs to my Dad.
