Bill I am SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!!!!!!!!!!

You opted to buy dinner instead of making a seven course gourmet meal in your free time??  ;)

Could be Ms Van Pelt is a little anemic, a bottle of Guinness each day works wonders Billy.

You think that's funny, but matter of fact, I fix most of the meals here already (and assist with Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter meals, sometimes fixing those myself also) and was going to give them a break. ;)  I  even eat my own cooking too! :D

Thanks, we've managed to escape the tornadoes, so far. ::) Quite a bit south of us, Mena, wasn't so lucky! :(  Last I heard, they had 3 dead and hundreds injured with lots of damage. :-\  Also, heard they had 200mph winds from that! :o It is said that the storm that went through there, had about 3 tornadoes within it! :o Last tornado that came through Greenwood and touched down, was in 1968. We HAVE had some go over and put a pretty good scare in us (one was only about half a block away, when it passed over us). Had some pretty god winds and lots of rain, but we're doing okay, ourselves. Thanks for the concern. ;)

BTW, I've gotten my Dad out to eat, during the week, out to Church and another meal out after Church, for 3weeks now. 8) Today was the best one though. I had told him Saturday that we'd like him to go to Church again and, with it being Easter Sunday, we'd like to have him over for a "Special Lunch". Well, he popped up and offered to take US to lunch and we accepted! :) I had gotten him a dress shirt and tie to go with some pants that he already had and expected to have to remind him this morning along with helping him to dress. Wrong, when I go there this morning, to check his blood sugar and give him his insulin shot, he was already dressed and ready to go! :D And, he had to tie his own tie (I never was too good at that and he'd not tied on in quite awhile, but he accomplished it and was waiting on me. 8) We all had a fantastic time with Church, the meal, the company and, when I took him back to his apartment, I expect that he was "napping" shortly after we left. It sure did my heart good t see that he "remembered" that I was coming to get him AND what we were going to do today. Sure makes me feel good to see him feeling so good and doing so well. ;)

Hey Bill, that's a ray of sunshine amongst all the problems.

You've got that right! ;)  Another Bonus is that I took him in for a follow up (family doctor) and DAd's doing pretty well. :) I mean, he was seeing him every 2 weeks and now he doesn't have to go for another 2 months! :o :o ;) The Doctor was very impressed with what I told him about how Dad's blood sugar readings were going and how his mind was clearing up somewhat. :) It sure does my Heart good to see him responding so well. :)

WAY TO GO, Bill!  ;)

My wife is diabetic (Type I, 35+ years, now), too. Next month is the new experiment: disposable closed-loop blood sugar monitors that she has to insert every 3 days, along with the pump tubing change, that are supposed to measure and auto-correct her glucose. This has been 15 years coming, sure hope it works!  :o

All this "stuff" costs about $21 per day... :P

Sorry about your Wife being a diabetic for so long. Hope things work out for her. My Dad's blood sugar has been pretty stable, since he was switched to insulin and I've been giving him that! (never liked needles myself and would have NEVER thought that I would be doing that. ::) Just goes to show you that you never know what life holds for you. ;)

Thanks Chris. :) He Does seem to be doing well. He is STILL ready to go back home though (even though he seems to have mellowed out some on that though). The local car show is tomorrow (about 300 or so vehicles, average) and I'm really hoping that he will be more enthused about THIS one! The conditions will be better and hopefully, the weather will be nice. We've got a pretty full day tomorrow, if all goes well. I've started getting some money out of his bank account and giving it to him and then we go out to eat, after which, he wants to but and I let him (in fact, if I even offer to pay the tab, he tells me that it's the least he could do, to repay me for getting him out of THEIR clutches and I tell him that he owes me nothing because it is MY responsibility to do what I've done and what I'm doing)! Matter of fact, we'll be in Church Sunday thanking GOD for ALL of the progress. ;)

                                          Take care, Bill ;)

Man, this has been one FANTASTIC day! 8) ;) Went to take care of checking my Dad's blood sugar this morning and giving him his insulin. Shortly after that, we went to the local car show and when we got there, I found a parking place as best I could. We got out and walked about 3-4 times more than he usually walks in a days time, seeing at least 3/4 of the cars, trucks and motorcycles. He held up very well, the weather was great (slight cool breeze, cloudy and about 70 degrees) and he really enjoyed the outing. After that, we went to pick up my Daughter, went to lunch (at Denney's), picked up something to take back to my wife (she wasn't feeling much like getting out today) and then took him back to his apartment. He told me several times that he really enjoyed the car show and lunch, along with the company.

Also, I got a copy of the preceedings toward getting my Dad's things back and they've got 5 days to admit it and turn the stuff over OR we're going to Court, AGAIN! ;)

Updates, when I have them. :)

Glad to hear all is going better for your dad.
My wife and I went to Vancouver on Tues and got my dad off to the hospital on Wends.  They said we could pick him up in a few hours......after 9 hours I threatened to call the RCMP if they couldn't actually show me my dad!

"We're very busy, don't know where he is"  !!!!!!!!!!!

Kathleen stayed for a few days and looked after him until he could drain his tubes and feed himself.

P.S.  Bill
"it's the least he could do, to repay me for getting him out of THEIR clutches"

I wish you would get over the superman complex of "saving" your Father/
Seems you always add some sort of bad comment on your Brothers part.  80 pages........
Don't take it the wrong way. It's kind of like a divorce, after a while your friends don't want to hear your nasty words anymore. Get on with it.......life, enjoy your Dad while you have the time ;)

Sorry if I seem out of line, just a perspective on the situation over a few years of this thread.
