« on: August 25, 2007, 03:20:53 AM »
i may have a problem guys ive just about got the bike ready to road  and my uncle who gave me the bike  cant find the title for it and he got the bike from someone else but never registered it in his name as he was going to use it for parts  i know the bike isnt stolen as he had the title at one point but the registration office is saying ive got to go back to the last owner and get him to retitle(?) the bike to me that wouldnt be a problem but the bike was last registered in south carolina in 1989(seriously) and the guy that gave it to my uncle was in prison for an unknown long duration any suggestions as to how i can solve or get around this  also would the fact that the bike is a 72 model have any bearing on the situation? Id heard that titles werent required by law until 74 or 75
Please help ive been working on this thing for the last 5 summers and id really like to ride it some this summer (legally that is already had one run in with the cops over not wearing a bucket  but got away with just a warning if that fine officer had really been doing his job he wouldve noticed the sc tags and that i didn't have a cycle license!)

Have your uncle give you a bill of sale and have it notarized.  That may do the trick.

www.its-titles.com

Try this place. They got me a title for a 69 CL350 for $75.00. The whole process took about two weeks. Good luck.
