Fuel Tank Swapability
« on: April 10, 2005, 09:06:40 pm »
Hello board! So I have finally got motivated to get my '72 CB500 up and running and my first order of business is getting a fuel tank. I found one on eBay for cheap that is for a '76 CB550, but will this fit my '72 CB500? Both tanks have a 3.7 gallon capacity...and they look similar, but I don't want to get a tank that I can't use. ANy input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a million, Kyle

Hey Kyle - I have a 550 tank on my K0 500 frame, slips right on.

I had a 550K3 tank and seat on my '72 500.  The tank slips right on and comes with a lockable cap.  The seat was a b****** as the mounts didn't line up and I had to make some new brackets.
