Factory 2004 Honda Cafe Racer
« on: August 26, 2007, 12:14:12 PM »
I was in the dealer last week and spotted a small Honda cafe racer. I talked briefly to the sales guy who said it was only made in '04 and was not street legal. I ask what model it was, he told me and I wrote it down. Since then, I've scoured the Internet looking for it and have found nothing.

Does anyone know what bike I'm talking about? It was a small twin--probably 150-350cc's. It ran a single front disk and a drum rear. It had a cafe hump in the rear and a long, thin racing tank.

--Thanks, Chris

Something like this? Not a 150+, or a twin, but might be what you are thinking of.

CB50R.

Are parts available for that bike? If so, from where (besides the dealer) I need the tach from it.

No problem, I had stumbled across that a while ago on the net. Absolutely awesome. I would definitely get one if they were available here, and if they were street legal. There was another website I had found that gave TONS of info on it, power figures and the like, but I can't get on it here at work. But if you research it, I'm sure it's easy enough to find. There is also a video of it on youtube or something similar, sounds wonky.

Steve

Parts....Well I'm not too sure, it's not a stateside product, but I'm sure if you looked on other sites, Europe and elsewhere, there is more info on it. Maybe you could get one of these fine gents on here from another continent to grab you a PN#. If you can get that, I bet any local Honda dealer could get the parts.

I found the parts. It's a tricky affair looking for bits for this bike. The tach is $350--a bit outside my budget.

No road going model here in the states, just the "racer" version. We had one in the shop this past weekend to fit a full fairing. The owner had purchased a number of performance goodies for it. An HRC cylinder head with a single exhaust outlet and a matching megaphone system. It looked to me like a very cute decoration for a corner of the office or over the fireplace.

I had a ride on one around a car park a couple of years back.

My abiding memory was...   it stalled very easily and was a bugger to kick over!

You see them on eBay UK every once in a while - they go for about £1k

Wouldn't be too hard to make it "street legal"
In Chicago , that means a headlite, one tail light, and the plate off your other bike.. ;D
