Cam timing / tach

This was mentioned before, but I could not find it.
Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this stuff. OK, the CB350's coils are fired from the cam. My understanding is that is fires at 1/2 the rate of a crank-fired ignition. Does this mean that I cannot use ANY aftermarket electric tach? I admit that I don't understand this as well as I should, but can anyone explain why a CB350 cannot use an aftermarket tach?
The SOHC/4 guys seem to use the cool little tachs that I was told would not work for the CB350. Any help is appreciated.

depending on tach, some have switch for 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8 speed or search around for a switchable tach (probably around $200.00)
Most automotive ones wont work so cheap variety is out, (guess how I know, wanna buy one??)

Thanks for the response. No, I don't think your tach will work
. So I need to look for one that runs at 1/2 pulse?
